Very interesting thread OP, thanks for sharing.

On the subject of going for a crap, seems like a lot of effort. Why not just crouch on the seat edge, olde style or even "hover" like most ladies do in public urinals?

It's probably a matter of public record, can't be that many people Blunkett extradited ?

Google is your friend
Yep, took me less than a minute.

Great Reading OP, look forward to the continuation of the story.

You guys, everyone knows the first rule of prison club is you don't ask the guys what he's in for...
Before you get to 'walk the yard', ie go outside for a walk/run, use the chin/dip bars you have to show the shot-caller (leader essentially) for your race or gang your paperwork.

Any sex offence, anything involving children (IRL or the internet) or anything suspicious and he'll say no, you'll have to go PC (Protective Custody). In reality most of these types just ask the staff for PC straightaway if not already allocated there, although some 'slip' through. This is where they also put all the convicted ex-cops, ex-judges and gang drop-outs.

If your paperwork is 'good' you're cleared for the yard, mine was all good so I got the nod to run with the Woods. (Whites)

Did they automatically accept you once the leader has said it's ok? Are the whites the same as the Aryan guys?

Thankyou.

6. Tanklife Part II

Making the seat was the easy part. I suffered extremely badly with constipation those first few weeks and also throughout my time in 850. So going for a crap I could be sitting there for 30 or 40 minutes. As a consequence of the constipation I got haemorrhoids, I remember one time I was just so tired of it I forced one out and I knew that was the wrong thing to do.

I got back to my bunk, picked up my book, I still remember it was 'The Great Escape' by Paul Brickhill. Within 20 minutes I'm in absolute agony, if I didn't know better I'd swear I'd been raped by some John Holmes mofo. No matter which position I lay in, left/right side, front the pain was unbearable, I knew if I went to medical I'd just get some T3 at best which would be next to useless.

I gave it about an hour and was still in agony so I said fk this.

I knew there was a guy in Tank 4 who had cancer and got 4 Morphine 30mg a day, I also knew that Rob, a guy in our tank bought some of them from him, so I approached Rob and said mate I need some Morphines, he said how many, I said 4.

He replied OK give me 10 minutes, he goes back to his bunk and writes a note or 'kite' as they are called, goes to the gate and gives it to one of the workers he knew. The guy knew the script of course and comes back shortly with a small wrap, gives it to Rob who in return hands him a candybar. The workers won't pass notes/gear for nothing!

He comes to my bunk, hands me the 4 30s, I say how much (I knew the price) and he replies a phonecard. They are 10 bucks a pop, you need these to use the phones, there is a code on them hidden under a scratch panel that you enter before you can make a phone call. I say cool and dip into into my paperwork and give him a card.

I knew most didn't just swallow these but was unsure exactly what to do so I turned to my neighbour Scott and said I've got 4 Morphines, what's the best way to take these for pain and to get a buzz. I've never taken opiates before but I knew that folk were getting some kind of buzz off these.

2 was more than enough for the day so I said, we can have 2 each. He had zero money coming in from outside and no hustle going on.

Just an aside, he knew I'd got a 5 stretch and had been there for about 6 months. One day I said to him, FFS Scott I want to go home already and he replied 'but...but you've only just got here' I somehow managed a laugh. Cool dude, Scott.

OK back to the Morphines, he says Ok pop one in your mouth and keep it there for a while to get the red coating off so I did that with my 2.

He knew I played a lot of chess so he says get your board, he says there are little balls of sustained release inside the pill so we need to crush them up and then make 4 lines and then we just snort them. OK what do we use to snort, he says grab your pen which he then he dismantles leaving just the tube. Now I've never snorted anything before so I have to ask him exactly what to do, he does his 4 first then I do mine.

Lying back on my bunk I pick up my book and very quickly the pain is gone, not only that I'm managing to concentrate really well on reading, during the day the TV is on and it can get quite noisy. Because I'm concentrating so well I ask Martin, Bruce's bunkie, another murderer, if he he's up for a few games of chess. He's not a bad player but we played 6 games and he never had a chance so he says sorry I'm just not up to it today, I say no problem, thanks for the games.

Anyway not only the pain relief, the Morphine just made the day a hell of a lot more enjoyable but I did say to Scott man I'm itching a lot. He laughed and said that was the opiate itch. For me they weren't the kind of thing to every day but I did indulge a few more times before I left.

I managed to get a bit of control over the constipation and piles by buying fybogel from the store and although you couldn't buy the 'H suppositories' from the store, if you're an inmate with no funds and none coming in you're classed as 'indigent' so on the day before store you get a little slip where you can choose 2 of 5 items one of which was a pack of suppositories. I used to say to Bruce, get them and tell me what you need.

Yes that's how it works, not in every institution however.
Aryan, you mean Aryan Brotherhood? no, they're a hardcore gang mainly found in state and also max federal joints. Usually doing long stretches as it's difficult to join and even harder to leave.
I did meet a few though holding in court cells and also I spent some time in Victorville USP which is a max, triple fencing, one electrified and gun towers. Dangerous places to be if you fk up (I mean amongst your peers), respect levels very high though. Any major trouble and the woods will go with the AB as will the Sureños, the Norteños run with the blacks.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Pretty mundane stuff so far though but I think I'll stick with an institutional chronological order even though I've missed out spending 6 months in a British
prison waiting for the US Marshals to come and pick me up after my second to last judicial challenge against the extradition. I remember the judge's words before remanding me in custody, you're an intelligent young man with I presume access to a lot of funds and so I assess you as a flight risk because you're looking at a considerable sentence in the US. This was following a 3 hour representation by my QC on proportionality. Unbelievable really.

Really interesting. As a current cop I'd have to say prison is one of my absolute worst nightmares.

You sound like you had a long time of it... Out of interest, do you feel that being inside for that time was harsh for the crimes, or that it was fair? Not trying to be argumentative but genuinely interested on how you feel about it now.

Keep up the updates, fascinating.
