Further storms just leaving France for the same areas...

Think I'll drive up the M1 to Manchester this afternoon!

Absolute belter of a storm in the Midlands. Lots of lightning hitting the ground as queued around the M42. Really enjoying it until the bridge I was driving under got struck.

Holy effing flipcakes!

I suspect the thread will be over soon.

One last day for summer tomorrow, with thunder warnings for central and southern England.

Friday sees another weather warning. Autumn arrives from the Atlantic. Sharp drop in temperature and prolonged rain frown

Today's thunder risk map, shouldn't be anything like Tuesday's MCS event!

Looking at the lunchtime weather it looks like it could be every bit a lively this evening for central southern england and moving eastwards tomorrow.
If it's anything like Tuesday - it'll be special! So glad I witnessed those storms hehe

Port Solent. Blue skies, 26 degrees, local radio station ranting on about monsterous rain and storms, no signs and absolutely nothing on lightningmap.

So, where is it all coming from then? I've cancelled a beer in the sun this afternoon!
Get back out there!

Watching the rain radar as well - very little action.

One cell popped up around SevenOaks, spunked it's load and disintegrated, without a flash or a bang. Plenty of towering clouds in West Berks, but no action.

Work is a bit slow this afternoon, so was planning to take the missus for a glass or two in the marina. Heard the radio forecast so and she decided to go and get her nails done instead... so I changed the water in the fish tanks and trimmed some plants.

Now sitting on the balcony in a pair of shorts with a tin of Coke Zero. Nice, but not as nice as it could be in one of the marina establishments.
You might be alright down there:

This image shows a line of cloud springing up - which is where the storms will start (above me!)

Something brewing near Gerrards cross, distant rumbling...
Yep, storm in the Uxbridge area flashed up out of nowhere. Looks like it's travelling west very slowly.

And now North of Bath.

Sorry for lack of updates. We took a direct hit. Minor flooding and Vodafone knocked out.

Nothing like Tues in Manchester

Ha, not the house - just the village. 3 or 4 inches of flooding in spots and mobile signal wiped out. Electricity bounced a few times.

Met office amber warning for storms overnight - flooding in particular. Rough area is around 20 miles each side of the M3 and up through London.

3am to 10am.

Bugger- commuting to London tomorrow!

Looking pretty grim along the M3 right now. We're just on the north edge. So far just me and the dog awake!

Thankfully the kids have Velux windows with blackout blinds so can't see the lightning. But the rain will deafen them if it gets worse!

Kids finally woken up by a big bang nearby. Storms been rolling for over 5 hours now.

As above, not really the thunder but the sheer volume of water that's been incredible.

Mrs Puggit asleep downstairs with the dog...

West Coast main line effectively closed by land slide near Watford.

Newbury station closed by floods.

Hammersmith and City closed by strike (lefty type, not lightning)

Good luck everyone!
