South West London - thunderstorm building here. No rain yet, but frequent thunder & lightning.
Big storm in central London, lots of lighting and thunder. Probably coming your way.

Pompey area.

Some heavy rain, lots of thunder and lightning wiped out our satellite reception during the Paxman Factor on C4 tonight (thankfully). Just hearing some distant rumbles from the channel again and very heavy downpours just lasting a few minutes each.

According to lightningmaps, we could get some more overnight if it doesn't blow out over the Channel Isles, who seem to be getting a bit of a pasting at the moment.

ETA: aaaaaand we're off again. Lots of in-cloud lightning with the odd rumble of thunder which sounds a bit away yet. Not really showing on lightningmaps.

Lots of flashes here and some heavy thunder still, but according to lightningmaps.org there's an absolute freakshow of a storm going on just off Margate right now.

Nice picture Alex. Pi$$ing down in Woking at the moment, and I mean seriously heavy without any sign of it letting up.

That's some impressive sleeping ability Blib! Although it wasn't too loud most of the time, it was very bright and there were two massive, massive cracks of thunder around 2:30, I had the balcony door open and nearly jumped out of my skin.

Unfortunately for storm lovers, this grey murk needs to break, and break fast, allowing the sun through to really pep these storms up. Convection counts! irked

Looking at the latest storm - looks very much like the same areas to really 'benefit'. A3 corridor in to London looks like my best guess at this point, with some further storms through Sussex and Kent again.

Could be another night of it over in Brighton, usually sleep like the dead but last night the thunder managed to keep me up pretty late.

Looks like a direct hit.

BUT

(and it's a big BUT)

The storm has run out of energy. No more thunder at present. Just heavy rain.
