Sorry for the Daily Fail link, but historians now believe it would have looked something more like this.

Some positive signs for the 2nd half of July for some proper summer, but a long, long way from being certain! Met Office are also talking about a change in the weather...

3rd week in July has been the smart bet for ages, and been looking increasingly promising in the last day or 2.

(of course I've just ruined it now by speaking the words)

Actually looked and felt like summer here today. Off to the South of France for two weeks on Friday, so looking forward to more of the same.

A SST of about 31C is quite interesting, some scientists believe it is a normal climatological maximum, regulated by evaporation and/or cloud formation.

Next week looks pretty rubbish - and then there are signs of the first proper heat arriving towards the end of the week. Watch this space...

The week ahead continues to look less than desirable, especially for the north. Charts are still showing big things for next weekend, so the odds of it happening are rising...

Unusual (supposedly) July snow reported in several high North American mountain areas, also forecast for European Alp tops.

Unusual heat about to arrive in England party

The models had a waver yesterday, so I'm glad I didn't post. Warmest and most settled spell yet appears to be on the way. I'm afraid the North and Scotland may not benefit.

Humidity and thunder on the cards too.

It's a flip flop situation, near impossible to predict if/length.

Lowestoft. Very heavy rain and some thunder. Great! I have to drive home in this.
