MAHOOSIVE storms crossing Brittany right now. Aiming for Dorsetish... Good chance of fireworks, flood-inducing rain almost a certainty for local areas, although the storm (as usual) is struggling to cross the Channel intact.

The usual web apps starting to pick up on this now, predicting it as far East as West Berks early tomorrow morning. Just in time for Reading festival hehe

Highest official temps around London & East, about 33C tops so far.

The first batch of 'storms' have died as they crossed the channel, we got a burst of 5 raindrops!

Bloody typical - rain radar app fails just as I have 2 chickens on the BBQ and some rain starting. Just about got it done before the rain started properly and I think I had a lucky escape as the storm split round us. (Sth Dorset)

Probably too hot to have taken the kids up to London to see a show yesterday. Credit to the dancers (we watched Thriller) - they gave their everything. Ladies had a nice 'glow' to them biggrin

Central Line was warm enough to cook bread in.

Series of weather warnings from Met Office for rain/thunder for next 4 days.

Sadly Reading isn't covered, but Leeds certainly is!

Good news, Reading and Leeds now both covered by rain warning for the weekend! MetOffice list it at the lowest likelihood though...

A ten minute shower, lots of lightning and a few distant rumbles in Kent, to the east of Maidstone last night around 2 to 3 am.

I've read that Ashford, Canterbury, Whitstable areas had quite a good storm.

Quite a big storm here in East Sussex last night, lots of lightning and thunder (although sheet and rubmles rather than forks and claps!).

Very heavy rain for a good half as well. This was at 2am. I know because the dog was not happy!

Today's storm risk map from NetWeather, matches the MO's warning from yesterday well. Late afternoon/early evening as is often the case.

Slightly iffy weekend - then it looks like warmth returns for a short period next week. Uncertain on the length of time, but pretty sure high pressure will pay us a visit.

It's the first day of autumn, but the average summer wallows on.
