Port Solent. Blue skies, 26 degrees, local radio station ranting on about monsterous rain and storms, no signs and absolutely nothing on lightningmap.

So, where is it all coming from then? I've cancelled a beer in the sun this afternoon!
Get back out there!

Watching the rain radar as well - very little action.

One cell popped up around SevenOaks, spunked it's load and disintegrated, without a flash or a bang. Plenty of towering clouds in West Berks, but no action.

Work is a bit slow this afternoon, so was planning to take the missus for a glass or two in the marina. Heard the radio forecast so and she decided to go and get her nails done instead... so I changed the water in the fish tanks and trimmed some plants.

Now sitting on the balcony in a pair of shorts with a tin of Coke Zero. Nice, but not as nice as it could be in one of the marina establishments.

ETA: a few white here clouds now... West of London getting some action according to LM24.

You might be alright down there:

This image shows a line of cloud springing up - which is where the storms will start (above me!)

Yep, storm in the Uxbridge area flashed up out of nowhere. Looks like it's travelling west very slowly.

And now North of Bath.

The action seem to be heading your way Puggit!

Got a bit more cloud here but nothing sinister yet. Time for a beer methinks - but not going out while SWMBO is preparing a stir fry! Want to be here when it is ready lick

Bloody typical! As is so often the case, the storm went south of us and is following the Thames Valley; hit Maidenhead and now Reading

Rain has begun and its gone very dark. Thunder seems to have died off though. My lightening strike app makes impressive viewing!

Hit Holmfirth at about 7:15 last night and it was amazing! Some lighting strikes very close to the house with one hitting the church just down the road and some of the cracks of thunder that followed we're unreal!

Did feel sorry for the many cyclists I saw who'd obviously been caught out though, this wasn't forecast round here and with the weather the way it was it had obviously drawn a lot of them out!
Yup I was one of the many riders out that night Rob, didn't get as far as New Mill before we bailed. Got to the top of Bradshaw out of Honley as the lightening was landing all around us! never pedaled home so fast! It was epic yet sketchy!

Sorry for lack of updates. We took a direct hit. Minor flooding and Vodafone knocked out.

Nothing like Tues in Manchester

What on your house! Bloody hell.

Raining here now. All the fun is still a bit north and west of us it seems, Southampton / Winchester / Basingstoke areas. Hope for later smile

Ha, not the house - just the village. 3 or 4 inches of flooding in spots and mobile signal wiped out. Electricity bounced a few times.

Met office amber warning for storms overnight - flooding in particular. Rough area is around 20 miles each side of the M3 and up through London.

3am to 10am.

Bugger- commuting to London tomorrow!

That's a relief.

Just sitting on the balcony with lightningmap. We have almost clear skies here - I can see planes going by it is that clear. I can also see flashes in the sky co-inciding with the dots appearing on the map over Winchester. Must be pretty bright over there.

Oh it's just started raining again and it appears that the skies are not quite as clear as I thought if I look around the wall to my right. Fingers crossed.

Given up trying to sleep, currently it's kicking off big style constant lightning and thunder over Poole & Bournemouth and it's absolutely pissing it down monsoon style.

Yep. Brief power cut made the house alarm do funny things so I had to get up and turn off the power to it, my two year old has woken quite upset, sirens in the distance, increasing rain and thunder getting closer...
