Looking pretty grim along the M3 right now. We're just on the north edge. So far just me and the dog awake!

Thankfully the kids have Velux windows with blackout blinds so can't see the lightning. But the rain will deafen them if it gets worse!

Well that was exciting. It was overhead for a long time. There was a huge flash and a deafening bang simultaneously. Then dozens of car alarms went off as well as the electricity. The phone line is still down an hour later. Can still hear very distant rumbles as it moves away across the New Forest. Night night.

Bloody brilliant in Basingstoke! Proper daylight lightning and window rattling thunder.
Little one thought it was amazing but at 14 months old most things are.

Wonderful stuff over bracknell. Velux windows singing with rain ping. Power cut and lighting all around for about an hour now. Car alarms and neighbours all peeking out from behind curtains.

.... and seems to have been doing so for HOURS; and by all accounts due to continue for HOURS!! Wide awake now - wondering just how much rain can keep coming down. Having to keep the windows open because it's been so warm isn't helping!!! ("West" Watford).....

Kids finally woken up by a big bang nearby. Storms been rolling for over 5 hours now.

As above, not really the thunder but the sheer volume of water that's been incredible.

Mrs Puggit asleep downstairs with the dog...

Ha, i feel your pain Pugs. I'm downstairs on the sofa, mrs W is upstairs in bed with the two nippers (think I got the best deal!)

Seems to have calmed now, but there been some strikes that felt bloody close - rattling the windows and letterbox. And the rain keeps coming...

If we had any thunder and lightning in north Herts then I managed to sleep through it, does look like it's rained though.

Me too in Barnet. Didn't hear a thing. Though, we did have two fans going all night to keep cool(er)

Alfreton / Chesterfield had a good one early hours of this morning - prob 02:30 ish.

Super heavy rain and a good amount of very very bright lighting, and proper cracks of thunder.

Then the power went out.

West Coast main line effectively closed by land slide near Watford.

Newbury station closed by floods.

Hammersmith and City closed by strike (lefty type, not lightning)

Good luck everyone!
