Hmmmm. The only acceptable circumstance for carrying a bag like this is that you absolutely have to carry around loads of spare hollow point 45cal ammo, grenades and gratuitous amounts of chewing baccy that will make you a sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me.If it's your gluten-free lunch, chap stick, spare trendy glasses & beard oil, you've just got a handbag.
The truth is, no-one cares, and those who DO draw such conclusions, well, their opinion isn't worth a damn anyway.

Subtle, but fairly big difference.

We all ripped the p!ss mercilessly.
He and I were in NY when one of the male receptionists complimented him about the bag. He informed the receptionist that I'd given him a hard time about having bought a "man bag". The receptionist said "No, that is really masculine". My colleague puffed out his chest and said as we walked away "See, I told you it was cool".
I had to point out that the male receptionist firstly had a "handbag hook" (e.g. https://www.aspinaloflondon.com/products/aspinal-h... on his desk but secondly was as camp as a row of tents. His opinion therefore didn't really make it the sort of bag that Bear Grylls would have taken on an SAS mission.

I got one of these ten years ago and it's still going strong. Superdry Laptop Bag
Used if for work almost daily, packed light for overnight, all sorts. Got a handle and a shoulder strap and I got black on black, whereas you can also get all sorts of colour combos, but mine needed to work with a suit and not look out of place in the office.
Also have a cheapo waxed canvas bag - simple for the basics. And sorry - I don't really care what people think when they see me carrying a bag. I assume they allocate me some credit for not being a moron who wanders about with loads of st in their hands. It's not a man-bag, or a handbag, or a man-purse. It's a bag. Same principle as the one I take on holiday and the ones I get my shopping on. Hole at the top, handles, good for putting stuff in.
ETA - Christ Smitters, read the thread title. The Superdry one isn't a Messenger Bag - no waist strap. I've no first hand experience, but Ortlieb have a good rep for being waterproof and functional.

To some it will be, to others, presumably like yourself, not so.Life is oft described as a rich tapestry, yet to extend that metaphor, there seems to be a quite few of you who'd rather pick at the threads and unravel it all.
Perhaps you'd be happier if we were all identikit clones? Paradoxically, that wouldn't work though, would it? People like you would have nothing to sneer at.
Kreiga make good stuff for motorcyclists, not cheap and any colour you want as long as it's black, but they do make high quality stuff so you gets what you pays for.

I'm getting along with this currently. But if I had the cash, it would be a Kreiga as mentioned above.

I've had a Fjallraven for about 25 years. It's been all over the world with me and never had a bad word spoken about it.

Not sure how easy it is to get it delivered though. It's tough as old boots, had it years and it refuses to deteriorate in any way shape or form.
