My OH has these candles for the bath (and also some Christmas ones that actually smell very festive) from "The White Company" that appear to cost an arm and a leg. I dispute their councill-ness.
You get off lightly. Just hope she doesn't discover the Jo Malone ones...
There's a world of (conceptual) difference between Jo Malone / White Company and Yankee Candle...

The fact that pretty much anything in life can now be classed as "council" and the pretentious idiots that are so full of their own self-importance that they look down on anything they don't necessarily agree with or adopt themselves.
Deriding a very popular, not entirely serious forum thread because you don't like it. Council.

One is for people with money to burn. The other is for people who would like to emulate the former.
My wife used to make her own scented candles as a kind of hobby. They still come in useful when the dog's farts are a bit ripe on a winters evening.

I blame the dog as well.

Not knowing which of the two is succinct. Uber-council.
Bloody poor English on my part at the least.
Add council points for knowing better and being too lazy to think about it.

Should I immediately place myself on the waiting list for appropriate government funded accommodation?
Becoming an expert on the benefits system could take some time, so perhaps I shouldn't stop work just yet?

We can let you have a single crutch for now. You need to wear one Reebok Classic and one slipper whilst using it.

Putting this out there, we all know that any form of writing on a wall at home is council so where does this stand ?
Personally I hate this st but that's just my opinion smile

There is a gym near me where there are quotes on the wall from the gym owner himself, complete with his name on the wall. He is an ex-con too. Talk about council.
Going to a gym ran by an ex-con.

Different continents, exactly the same.

But I realise that 'Redneck' is more of a country farm boy, the traits are similar.

Or maybe 'White Trash' is more allied to council?

I haven't worn trainers in years.
I have a 20 year old pair of Nike Air trainers in excellent condition (I stopped playing basketball, so I stopped wearing them), will one of those do?
I also have a pair of William Hunt slippers (only worn on one Christmas day). They aren't 'labelled', so I presume one of those could be put into service.
Is it acceptable to swap sides of the feigned injury (to get longer use out of the foot wear)?

Sorry, I'm new at this, and may need quite a lot of expert advice.

Do they fit properly?

Making cheap jibes about rectums - council. Possibly.

Avoiding death or serious injury inflicted by a 1970s colour television - council.
Therefore, by implication: actually getting killed by a 1970's colour tevelvision - ABC1 middle class that shops at Waitrose.

Actually, C1 is getting a bit council. Let's settle for AB.

I think "Trailer Trash" is the closest US equivalent to council. Rednecks do not have the necessary sense of entitlement.

The one time I have seen in used in context was when camping in Yosemite national park. Lovely peaceful camp site filled with hikers.

Guys rock up in a 2 cab F250, build a huge BBQ, start playing loud music, drink beer, play fighting, etc until small hours.

"Goddamn white trash" was my fellow campers response.

Asking for advice on PH about claiming compo off the council = council! smile

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

ETA: only joking, seems a reasonable thing to do in the circs. Yeah, I know, encouraging other PHers to claim compo from the council = council!
