Just been to see Rod Stewart at the leeds arena,
a group of female councilists behind us Yakked all the way through with voices like fingernails on a chalkboard, and when dancing about managed to spill half her "larger" on the next couple,

I knew we should have gone more upmarket on the seats.

To be honest, aside from the potato car incident, I don't think Brian Harvey is all there. At least not the last few years. Not well at all

Relevance? You're sounded outraged on their behalf. Looking at the picture of the flag pole in the front garden and mentally picturing a huge flag flapping from it in the breeze I can see why she's had a complaint about it as I wouldn't be overly keen about it either if I'm honest. State flags flying outside state buildings and mounted to state stuff like cars, ships etc, all fine, along with being on display for a few days in celebration of some major country event/achievement to show solidarity but in the garden of a council estate semi showing images of santa and reindeers? Not so much...
Anyone upset enough about a santa flag to moan about it needs some real responsibility in their life. Just saying.

Housing estates - everyone in them is fking council.

"a residential area in which the houses have all been planned and built at the same time" that covers most of the country.

People are just saying things now that are not remotely council. Its like saying Blenheim Palace is council.

A one-off flag, sure, no issue, but the article makes mention of this being an all year round thing with different flags. I can well imagine how that would get irksome after a while, especially as those flag poles make an annoying clattering din when it's windy.

To paraphrase Shakespeare, 'Houses doth not maketh the man'

Like the OP of this topic, I spent some of my formative years in a council estate, and while I recognise many of the definitions of 'council' in this topic from recent employment in the worst parts of social housing, it doesn't really reflect the friends and neighbours I grew up with in the 70s. In my experience, the vast majority of council tenants are proud, hard working, clean living, 'salt of the earth' working class people.
Yes there is a self perpetuating sub-class of 'people' who haven't worked for generations, who thrive in the protective bubble of the welfare state wallowing in their own st , but they are the (very visible) minority.
I've enjoyed participating in this (funny and light hearted)thread over the last 2 years, but please don't take it too seriously, you get undesirable stereotypes in every social situation.

I think you are confusing a council estate with a housing estate. A housing estate like the palace is not council, its just a term to describe houses that have all been planned and built at the same time.

The picture might be a bit council but I don't think the story is, I think it is quite touching.

The world is overpopulated as it is. Some people just aren't meant to have children. IVF, surrogacy et al - Council.

Cant agree there Jamie, apart from the housing estate semantics, I knew what you mean as in Council Estates but it really isn't like that, this thread is not about who provides your accommodation but is more about behaviour, outlook, aspirations and respect for others, with a side serving of ripping the piss out of those who know no better that are perhaps not over burdened with middle class anxiety about being seen to do and own the right things.

Council is more of a state than an estate, you can be worth millions, own a massive house and still be council and you can be living in a Local Authority flat and exude class, taste, manners and breeding, it is just that they sometimes go together very well and seem to be inseparable, but they are.

The daughter's face appears to be too small for her head.
