In one East London council I do a lot of work for the shared ownership deals the Government are pushing (by quota system) are taking hundreds of properties out of council stock every year. Someone is making an awful lot of money while the waiting lists grow longer.
I watched a programme about sub letting, a woman in her 60s had been sub letting a council house for years , made 100s of thousands The people living in the house didn't match her description so theystarted watching it until she showed up to collect the rent
They went in , camera crew stayed outside but sound was still recording
They cautioned her, told her it was criminal offence to sub let a council property and there's 2 ways they can play it
Either she contests it and they take her to court or she hands they keys back and they forget about it
So of course she hands the keys in , I was f
