A couple I know are soon to be getting married and I decided to check out the hotel to see where it is and what it's like. When I went to have a look at the rooms I got a bit of a council surprise. The honeymoon suite has a sunken jacuzzi in it.

So what you say...
No no. I mean IN the bedroom, beside the bed, not in the ensuite.

I see your jacuzzi in the bedroom and raise you. Heart shape jacuzzi in the bedroom. https://www.hojobythefalls.com/accommodations/delu...

On one hand - convenient for a 3am wizz

On the other - potential death trap when staggering around half pissed or trying to find the loo!

Waking up pissed for a piss in the dark and trying to find the toilet, I'm pretty sure I'd fall in there. I get out of my bed and walk straight to the right at home

Feel sorry for the chap having his car damaged, but...

Leased Audi, insured through Elephant?

Council.
That's pretty petty and poor form on your behalf.

Sneering at those who are less fortunate and kicking people while they are down. Council.
Not sneering at all - "his" car is a lot better/worth more than all of "mine" put together.

There is no doubt that Elephant is the domain of the councillist. Look at those Police Interceptor programmes - whenever someone tries to blag their insurance it's always a (canceled) Elephant cover note they produce.

fks sake! Every time something comes up it's me who is council! Again!

I've just insured the OHs Volvo with Elephant.

(In my defence they were much cheaper, and we have no intention of ever claiming should the car be damaged (any damage would be a write off on a 2K car) as the subsequent 5 years of buttfking in increased premiums would cost way more than the 2k).

The Chief ex's PA and I were discussing things the other day at work: turns out she worked on a Bradford Police station reception for 5 years.

The hours of fun she had, declining to release seized cars to people with just "trade policies".

"but what it is love, its trade innit, it covers me to drive owt"

bought a new car for the wife the other day: it couldn't have been easier to phone my insurer and swap details, then print out a certificate to collect the car.

Life isn't hard really is it.

decades ago I remember Plod blocking off the 2 roads in/out on one of our small estates. Might have been when powers first radically changed with regard to vehicles. They then went round clamping/seizing all non taxed/insured cars.

you should have seen the impact, as people were furiously trying to move long abandoned cars into gardens etc. clearly many cars were long beyond being capable of being moved.

I can only relate it to an ants nest being stirred with a stick. Certainly these residents had never moved so much or so quickly in their lives.

They check insurance / tax / MOT when issuing on street parking permits in London. Remember hearing stories of mass panic when it was introduced with people turning up with a note which was promptly cancelled.

Another story I heard form the Police was when they do operations pulling drivers over and taking their cars for no insurance, they wait for them to turn up at the pound with a cover note and then do their mate who gave them a lift.

Especially if you're doing it to see if you recognise any of the participants!

Anyone else play 'Court Pages Bingo'?

My wife works with kids with behavioural problems and I worked with both community payback and social housing and we often spend an evening going through the court pages of our local rag competing to see which of us knows more of this weeks' 'stars'. To my surprise, I found out recently that quite a lot of my tenants do this too.

Once when I was a much younger lad, I had a brief dalliance with them too. Until one day I was to give Grandmother a lift. Upon checking the small print (as you do) it revealed that passengers over the age of 70 were not covered. Being the dutiful grandson, I immediately switched to a grown-up policy with a proper company for what turned out to be a lower premium.

I agree. Elephant = council.

certainly with the court pages bingo- when you are sad enough like me: most addresses are social housing ones or dire owner occupation areas. not really surprising though.

ditto the names: its the brandon's, jordan's, kyles, kane's etc that are always in trouble. of course here in Bradford lots of other BME names, but I'm not having some stupid racial debate !

Wow, I would have never thought of that.

I never knew that. How odd. I'd have thought a carful of 17 year olds presented higher risk (cost of lifetime of dependent care, etc) to the insurer.

I would have thought that risk to a passenger would be covered by the legal minimum standards for third party insurance and therefore not able to be limited by the insurance company?
