Does this qualify as a bit council? Not seen this for years so just had to buy it... don't know if it'll be eaten though!

I always remember moving out of my parents and into my own home many years ago.
I've always liked mashed potato and picked one of these up on one of my first food shops I did.
Then I made it.
And tasted it.
And realised that it tasted nothing like the mashed potato I'd been used to at home rolleyes

We have it in the cupboard for emergency hangover food. With a tin of bean it's minimum amount of effort, max carbs and slides down without much effort. That's of course if there is nothing better in.

Anyway, I see your Smash and raise you this (although I'd be staggered it if hasn't come up before on the thread).
I'm sure I had it once, it was as awful as it looked.

That was sort of what I'm planning since the link was posted above. Only I'll be doing crinkle cut frozen chips instead of the potato waffles and Walls ice-cream with Ice Magic if I can find that anywhere. Can't wait to see the girlfriend's face.
We've also had "cake night" for dinner when the kids are not home. A huge pot of tea, a selection of different cakes from the corner shop, and catching up with whatever is on series link. No proper food, just cake.

I can council it with the best of them when I put my mind to it!

I nearly burned my house down by popping a couple of these in the oven and going for a 'lie down' after coming home from the local flat roofed pub pissed up one evening.

I was woken up by the fire alarm two hours later and had a house full of smoke (smoke alarm was upstairs and the smoke had some way to travel to activate it).

I no longer try to cook anything after a pub sesh, that incident scared the hell out of me.
As a man who has converted many frozen pizzas into carbon flywheels whilst tired and emotional, I can agree this is a bad idea.

Yep, I can also back that up.

It's surprising how small a pizza gets after several hours almost at the point of combustion! hehe

Crispy pancakes
Potato waffles
Angel delight
Fray Bentos.

Do not ever revisit these things. The memories are of succulent treats. The reality mings.

The only thing I can think of that holds up is tinned chunky chicken. Had some recently for the first time in 20 years. Still nom. Council, obvs, but nom.

Stagg tinned chilli. Extra hot variety. Slathered over oven chips. Cheese on top.

Je suis council.

We love Stagg Extra Hot tinned chili!

Even Tom loves it, we have it smothered all over extra large wieners in hot dog rolls, I call them dirty dogs! Pretty council I reckon!

That's so Council it may have gone full circle as to not be Council though! I can see a bearded hipster in Shoreditch serving that up.
Well, unless the 'dogs' are this variety...

Westlers burgers. It's all many burger vans used to sell; came from a trough of water rather than a grill as I recall. You could get tinned ones too which were semi-palatable although I hate to think what they were made of. Can you still get these anywhere?

It's exactly those dogs we have, clearly they are proper council then!
