Done!
EBay used to be a great place to buy and sell ,I only buy off the site now and if it's not a business seller I only collect and pay after full inspection, I got fed up with rip off merchants posing as buyers .

Thanks Grumpy! I still use eBay almost daily - but the ethics have changed with change of ownership. So many of my friends and colleagues in the classic car business have suffered from time-wasters (that's people bidding and never responding when they win) that this way of selling is becoming a joke. My grouse is that eBay seem to take no notice of individual complaints. I just want to have some proven support and justification behind me when I tackle them again. Hence the petition.

Sorry - I'm out all day, picking up car I bought on eBay! Plenty of links in earlier posts should still be visible. Thanks for your support. I shall wash it and return it in the morning.

Thanks Pole Driver!

BTW, I don't think this topic is getting the exposure I need in 'The Lounge' (moved here by the PH administrators). I don't want to transgress any PH posting rules, but is there any way I can get this message across in other forums on this site?

ETA

Please drop the repeated links.

There doesn't seem to be a sub-forum which would get more exposure. ANY other forum would get a better class of exposure! smile

Ignore the wind-up merchants, they'd rather spend their lives whinging instead of doing something about it!

Link works on PC, Android, iPhone and iPad.

Ha ha! Agreed. I've learned to put up with the saddos. They would only post their offensive comments on a site like this where they can remain safely cocooned in their bedrooms! A bit like folk who blow their horns and make rude gestures while locked in their cars. But when the traffic stops and you get a chance to meet them face to face and it's usually a different story!

I have experienced this on countless occasions. Another rather annoying thing is when someone with little to no feedback comes in and bids in the last few seconds then just completely ignores every attempt at contact.

You can select which country you do and don't want to post to, so why can't you select a minimum number of feedback allowed before being able to bid. I.e minimum of 10 positive feedback required or 15, 20, 25, 30 etc up to 50.

It's the least they could do considering the horrendous fee's encountered when selling a high value item and then all the potential trouble that can go with it!
I've signed it and would do again a thousand times over!

Theres more of an issue with sellers eg selling cars as buy it now with a deposit, at 60% of the market value. Someone gets caught out when they find the car isn't owned by the seller/car is in spain etc there are plenty of Romanian groups doing this all the time.
There was a Rochdale Olympic only 3 weeks ago done like this from Scotland, a TVR Grantura in Feb and someone listing about 15 classic cars earlier in the year - all frauds. It also happens with car parts advertised where the seller has just lifted the photos off Google.

ebay should require car sellers to have at least 100 feedback or have a valid phone number or email address on the listing.

Yes, I agree, all serious issues. I suppose there will always be con-merchants around in this world. What angers me is that such a massive player in marketing as eBay doesn't seem interested in taking notice of individual complaints from its users. Some issues appear to me to have obvious fixes - but nothing happens. Frankly, I don't think my efforts will fair any better - but I thought I'd have a try. Thanks for your contribution.
