There's a guy like that round my way. Car covered in exactly the same small checkers. His emergency service? He delivers dentures to dentists...
Looks more like gingham so it's probably the Women's Institute Rapid Response.

Or the Women's Institute Emergency Rapid Delivery Organisation?

Or WIERDO for short. Should have that on every car like this.

You are right. I'm quite good at spelling normally but it's one word that I have always had issues with. I'm wierd.

According to a new Home Office directive all women's voluntary organisations are to be known as Meddlesome Rat-Bags or The MRB - AKA The Girls In Black.

The other way of thinking about it is how is it pronounced. It starts off rhyming with we, so it's we-ird, weird.

I'm sure there will be some examples which don't work that way, but a decent rule of thumb.

I know. It's a blind spot for me. I suspect it is happening with other words as well.

My brain has to work in three languages every day.

English (UK) with UK peers
English (US) for all corporate emails, executive briefings, etc must be in US English in both usage and spelling (hard)
French (at least to read, my writing is poor)

So weird/wierd things happen...

The spelling I can see(and spiel chucker presumably makes easy)but the idiom and syntax some americans use is bizarre to these eyes; it would see me looking for another job pretty quickly.

I've noticed another combat indicator....
Largely pointless YouToob vids showing 4x4 Emergency Hero Rapid Reaction Incident Response Rescue Ranger Elite Corp in "training" to the sounds of a sombre, over-dramatic anthem lifted from Gladiator or some other epic piece of cinema.

Haha, one eye on that phone always. What the fk is up with that Police jacket? I've seen a few of them around which get sold off but they take the badges off and leave the battenburg on... Security guards love them (And cops are known to buy them as spares for under body armour!).

Walt-tastic. Get that hi-viz on the parcel shelf!

It's like Tracey Island for the Walt brigade!

(Although the doors may need replacing with some sort of rapid deployment slides)
