The language doesn't really help does it...
"4x4 Response have been put in full deploy mode after being requested to attend by the Glastonbury Festival organisers. We are working in conjunction with the Police to ensure the safe evacuation of festival goers and their vehicles from the festival grounds. We currently have 30 vehicles deployed with 15 on standby. One of Wessex 4x4 Incident Support Units has also been deployed"
When my bottle of red was getting low earlier I went into standby mode, when I ran dry I went into full deployment and ventured to the cellar.

The grounds are very muddy so we have 30 of our volunteers at the site, to pull out stuck cars as required. Another 15 of our volunteers can be called on if extra assistance is needed. Because it's such a busy festival one of the 4x4 Support vans has also set up on site. It's a muddy one this year so we really hope we can help some tired festival goers get home on time!
Why not write something like that instead?
This is why people on this thread are taking the piss - it's the pseudo-military speak - evacuation, deploy....cue dramatic music!!

For christ sake man, you can't just volunteer you have to go throughs years of rigorous training on using a tow rope, imagine the chaos if Joe Public rolled up just because they own a 4x4.ps have own Hi Viz & rope.

Where do we stand on glow sticks? I've seen them used to marshal helicopters so when tooling up to prepare and man a HLS* should these be things that the 4x4 responders use to wave at mere members of the public while ordering them around?
- HLS. Was a model designation for 1970s and 1980s British Leyland cars but to those 'in the know' it means helicopter landing site. Keep that to yourself though. We don't want Joe Public bandying around phrases like that in an irresponsible manner.

If they just biffed along to help out, that'd be great. Sort of as an off-roady club that can pitch in when needed.

I watched the news yesterday and saw a brand new AA LR struggling like hell to recover people from the site. Looking at the conditions, I'd imagine tractors are the way forward.
Not 30 fat, out of shape men, in knackered old 4x4's that I'd imagine will just slide around in any case.
I'm sure there are one or two walts with something decent with good mud tyres on, but the posted picture doesn't exactly show the 4th emergency service.

You just lash multiple 4x4's together, eventually the one on the end will be on some tarmac !
