I spotted this today and it made me think of this thread

It had either an orange or green light bar on the roof at the front, think it trumps the 4x4 rescue lot as it has a marine radar on the roof. Haven’t seen any old discoveries fitted with radar yet.....
haha

it's a green lightbar - just like a real doc

A mate from the RNLI just shared this on Facebook. I think it sums quite a lot of the last few days up.

I'm assuming it's an advert for a fund raising campaign.

You make an interesting point however. If you volunteer, should you publicise what you do?

That says it all.

Exactly! Which is why I'm running the Great North Run this year in aid of RNLI. wink The motorists are going to love us, all our patrol cars are getting fitted with CCTV next month to gather evidence of rolling block/closure breaches etc.

They won't be used for enforcement, purely to provide evidence of breeches, incidents involving our staff/cars. The incident where our colleague lost his life has been instrumental to them being installed. Police won't be able to access any footage recorded without good cause and proper permission sought. wink

I can't decide if that's meant to be taken seriously or if it's just a silly marketing gimmick.
I think I'll start up a PowerPoint Rescue Team for corporate presentations that are dying on their arse.
Presentation not going as you'd hoped?
Picture all a bit out of focus?
Air con too warm?
And your boss is in the audience?
Call us, or press Ctl Alt Del.

What's the point of gathering evidence if not for enforcement?

Now, you constantly claim not to be Walting - and that people who join the Traffic Wombles aren't in any way wanting to Walt, but you do seem to be taking pleasure from driving a very Walt-y vehicle and even more pleasure is being derived from the fitment of cameras for 'evidence'.

All seems to point to the fact that those who join the Traffic Wombles ARE doing it because they're professional Walts.

It's more to assist with prosecution of motorists for breaching blocks. Not for the things that the police enforce.

No, education, there's nothing worse than dealing with something in live lane thinking its safe and some nutter breaches a block and comes belting down the carriageway at full pelt! yikes

Prosecution is not education though, is it?
Strikes me as a loophole to give Wombles more clout.

Old Bill: We want to have a look at your camera footage to see if there's anything we can pin on some unsuspecting, otherwise law-abiding, motorists.

Uncle Bulgaria: OK, here you go.

That sort of thing, you mean?

(I'm only joking; don't crucify me biggrin)

"In 2011, a group of I T geeks of average ability was sent to an open prison by a magistrates court for a crime they probably didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a minimal security stockade to the Swindon underground. Today, still mostly ignored by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a PowerPoint problem, if the office computer guy has gone home & no one else can help, and if you can be bothered to find them....maybe you can hire ... The IT-Team."
