All this army talk is all very interesting but it's not like any of you have served in a proper role in 4x4 emergency response is it?

Oh I've been to Iraq and got a medal...blah..blah..blah. My dad was in the Paras and killed ten Germans....yawn.

Let's get back to talking about the real heroes!

I met a guy down the pub claimed to have served with Chemical Chaos, obviously the ladies were eating out of his hands. He had the proper patches on his jacket (leather blouson with elasticated waist band) and his car was properly stickered up...

But, with knowledge gained from this thread I was able to out him as a fraud!

A Walt Walt, now that's a crime that should get time inside.
I'll bet none of these 'soldiers' have been up 'the hill'. wink
These guys have all been up 'the hill'.

Theres a lot of thousand yard stares.

CC 4th from left, I see.

And one of them has a dole pole! How can they be the 3rd emergency service with a spazstick?

I understand, they're trying to help, but they really don't help themselves do they.

Good spot. Those two must be on covert ops.

Guy kneeling at the front has 3 (three) pairs of glasses. He must be like the 'eagle eye' action man of the group.

He's a bloke that wears a belt and braces. Can never be too prepared.

Bloke on the far right , he knows where to get proper cider he also probably uses his 4x4 at work ( as a farmer) so has the best idea how to actually use it.

I have a Ford kuga with occasional 4 wheel drive an inflated sense of my own importance and my own fleece jacket and sturdy boots. I am willing to buy a pair of camo combat trousers

Who do I need to see with regards becoming a 4x4 responder?

I heard rumours of a boathouse with high-vis chevron door where you collect kit. Can anyone send coordinates? (Preferably postcode for my Tom-Tom)

Are Walts allowed to own a vehicle with an OBD II port?

This morning as I stopped at the corner shop (Tesco Express) I saw someone I perceived to be a Walt doing his civic duty and providing a jump start from his old Defender to a girl's stranded 2003 Fiesta. Clearly the extreme cold start wasn't doing the Fiesta any favours but the guy was being nice.

It was the comment I overheard that made me chuckle - "All these modern cars are rubbish for cold starts with their computers, can't trust them in the winter!"
