Someone mentioned Gumtree - just put their number on various sales posts that would encourage people to call. You know: iPhone 6s, unwanted gift, £85, or John Lewis vouchers £50, will sell for £25.

I know someone who had a practical joke played on him. Car put on Gumtree at 50% of going rate, ad posted on Christmas Eve, saying he was leaving the country on Boxing Day so had to sell car. His phone was quite busy Christmas Day. biggrin

That type of thing sent round a few places.
Simple but evil.

I think sadly the morons who rip people off like your poor mum frankly couldn't give a hoot about what you do or don't do.

However
1. Are they on rated trader or the good quality builder type list? If so reporting to them might have them struck off and thus mean a reduction in number of people who use them.
2. Local press are always interested in such stories - could harm their future trade
3. Gossip girls/social media another way to raise the red flag about a previous dispicable incident.
4. Trading standards might want to know.
5. Do he have a nice car? Can you get your hands on some old brake fluid and then pour the whole contents into one of those cheap spray garden fence painters. Find his car away from others then introduce his whole car to said old brake fluid - he might like the bare metal look but I've a sneaking suspicion that only a tiny minority do and would choose to do so on their terms.
A waterballoon filled with old brake fluid thrown onto his pride and joy equally good.

6. Front up. Pop round to his house for a 121 chat

7. If you have the time see if you can film him ripping off another innocent victim.

But as another person has said would the stress to your mum and you be worth it? Some scrote has ripped your mum off, that cannot be undone why not a nice long weekend away to Jersey etc?

Soovy, I'm sorry that this is happening; you know you have the friends that will do this for you if you send them the details from an Internet Café winkbiggrin

Send gliiter letter bomb, happened to me and I didnt even do nuffin.

Frankly I would keep it legal as tempted as I would be to go and give him a smack.

Get another builder to do a report on what has been done wrong and what should have been charged then go the Small Claims Court, tell the police of the potential risks to your mum.

Get him to quote at various bogus addresses, wastes his time / winds him up.

Legal too.

Wasn't it common practice back in the old days to post fecal matter through peodophiles letter boxes?

I'd wager such action would really wind him up

take a picture of his vehicle and then report to the local facebook busybody pages for the local area "I saw this vehicle and it looked like it stopped to talk to schoolgirls. If you see again, REPORT TO THE POLICE!! They wont do anything yet as nobody has been abducted, but we must stop him before someone does go missing!!

Then mention Maddie McCann, don't approach, dangerous man, Be safe out there everyone! Anyone wanna buy some aloe vera etc etc

I am not suggesting that you do the following!

Get a large envelope and put a flier of some sort into it. Go to fishing shop and get some maggots. Put the maggots into the envelope. When there is nobody at home, post the envelope through his letterbox.

Within 10 minutes the maggots will have completely disappeared underneath carpets, rugs etc.

A week to 10 days later the house will be filled with bluebottels, which will continue to appear for about another week.

Sorry to hear this is happening, not fun when people are ripping vunerable people off.

I'd recommend letting the court case complete, waiting a while then serving your chosen dish, cold.

Very much this.

It will all be legal and above board. But I am going to destroy them.

Set up a blog stating all the facts with some great SEO that ensures it is at the top of google searches and not their own web site.

HSE breaches, especially when working at height like builders do can be an easy win & mount up quick . Not the big stuff, simple breaches can cost £250+vat/each if you get bubbled. Hard hats with no chin straps, inadequate and or incorrectly positioned segregation barriers, out of date inspections on PPE or site equipment & tools. When you inspect teams it can cost a fortune as they are all usually stupid enough to be doing the same thing. PPE is the easiest wins but my personal favourite is getting equipment red tagged as it stops the smug fkers working until its re-certified and or replaced which gets really expensive in both lost time and needing certification quickly.

Agree with the post a few above, burner phone and lots of appointments made to random addresses. Will eventually make them have to decide to keep taking the loss, work out a solution to check, or change phone number. Strangely its unlikely they will choose option 2 which is pretty much the only option that would work.

That's brilliant and summarises what my local FB group is mainly used for perfectly.

Chilli extract smeared on car/van door handles...

Milk/cream poured into the engine bay of their works van/pick-up...

If you're of a practical nature and can gain access to anything they own with an engine then engineering lapping paste in anything oil filled, diffs, gearbox etc...

Bird seed has it's uses...
