Once you've had major work. More than happy to hand over £20 quid and told those words see you in six months and not Root Canal
You are absolutely right, been over 10 years since I have had any work done, not even a filling so I guess I should count my blessings and not my bank balance.Edited by Robbo 27 on Tuesday 24th May 08:40
I can live with the examination charge, and would agree that being told you are "all good" is one of the sweetest moments in life... i have something of a phobia of dental work and have just gone through a crown fitting that ended up being a bit of a disaster and quite traumatic (for me).
However, what is frustrating is that my practice refuses to do scale & polishes as part of the Band 1 fee (which is included under the guidelines) - and instead insist you see their private hygienist for something like £50.

Look lads, my Sister and her husband are both (private ) dentists and own their own practice where they work very hard.
They live in a large farmhouse and send all 3 of their children to private school.
Because of this, she is in abject poverty and they have had to reduce their holidays to just the twice a year.
I am seriously considering starting a "just giving" page or contacting Bob Geldof to arrange a "dentist aid" to help them out.
What do you think I should do?

Console yourself with the thought that they're both more likely to top themselves than you are? They live in a large farmhouse and send all 3 of their children to private school.

Don't complain. My NHS dentist wasn't doing their job properly every 6 months and I seemed to be having a lot of issues without them being picked up.
I gave up with NHS and went private and he sorted me out and found all the problems the NHS one should have found.
2 gold crowns, 1 composite filling and 2 implants later costing the best part of £7k I'm back where I should of been.
I managed to get £500 out of the NHS dentist for poor workmanship but the rest I had to swallow with my dental insurance and my own money. I'm very happy with the private work I have had done and will never walk into an NHS surgery again.
