Hi

Has anyone had a good experience with ECU repair? Mine packed up on 1995 1.8 Eunos with intermittent total spark and fuel shutdown and I ended up with a 2nd hand Ebay replacement. Turns out it is a fairly rare short lived variant so another may be difficult. I'd like to get the original repaired and keep it as a spare. There CAN'T be all that much wrong with it?!

I don't know how much you want to spend but a megasquirt 2 or ME221 as a replacement might be an idea , I think the ME221 is around £450 with a base map it sits in the same ECU case.

Otherwise grab a replacement from a breaker on nutz or the many facebook groups. The stock ECUs are going for £20-£30 delivered so probably not worth fixing unless you can do it yourself

Thanks. I did wonder about that but I think the cost would only be justified if further modifications were planned. Currently not! On the other hand a new factory part from Mazda is thousands so maybe not a bad idea if more trouble is experienced. I got a 2nd hand unit from Ebay for £120 - mine seems a rare short lived version and who knows what happens if you fit a similar but not identical part??

You need the engine code. That will determine which ECU you need.

It will be on the sticker on the driver side door also look in the manual and on the VIN.
