Crazes: A flash in the pan - then it's gone.
Discussion
Not so much a fashion or fad but back in the 80s there were a couple of adverts always on TV for Runcorn and another for (my memory is dim) St Helens Glass exhorting you to call Tina White or Eileen Bilton
Here's one. http://youtu.be/R7rJVycRfqM
Back in those days it was an answerphone, no email etc. Me and my dad used to leave her dirty messages on the phone.
A few years ago I met a guy in the IT dept of a company I was contracting at and (it's a long story) it turned out that he and his dad used to do the exact same thing to Ms White and Ms Bilton: I can only conclude that every morning these two ladies would switch on the answerphone and have to wade through ten thousand sniggering drunks asking them to "tell me what you're wearing" or "what colour are your knickers?".

I never saw one of those, but we did have "Russel Spinners", these yoyos usually had some fizzy pop branding on them.
I still have one of those Found it a couple of months ago while sorting out a load of my old stuff that's been at my parents house for the last god knows how many years. Now its in my loft, never throw anything away.
I also found a mini football from Italy 1990 World Cup
And the banned "Intense" Ace of Spades Pot Noodle advert. Caused seizures IIRC, and they dropped it. Man, I love this nonsense.

Also- the Levi advert being a platform for the uk chart #1 for all of two songs as Babylon Zoo's Spaceman sounded nothing like anyone thought:

Another 80's fashion fad for blokes, wearing a suit with the sleeves pulled up to the elbows, Duran Duran stylee.
That's not 80's: I still do it now. I rock 'gold' razorblade necklace.
Whistle finder keyrings.

The fake plastic fingers on boot lids
And the stick on bullet holes for the windscreen. Usually found on XR3is and the like.Hula hoops (not the crisps).
Roller blades.
Proper shiny shell suits.
Collecting ginger bottles for the 10p deposit. Maybe not a craze as such but I don't think they do it the same now.

Reebok Disc trainers
Good call, except it was Puma Disc. Reebok had the Pump. Nike had/has Air and Adidas had a pair of trainers with a key system that allowed you to adjust what I don't know in the sole. I think there were 3 things mounted in the heel and they came with an adjustment key. While we're on trainer brands, what about British Knights, LA Gear, Pony and Diadora? Are any of these still going?

Diadora definitely are.I'm sure Sports Direct own either LA Gear or BK. Or it might be Troop, sure I saw something like that not too long ago. While we're on defunct trainers I had a pair of Quaser football boots, endorsed (and worn?) by Gary Lineker. Think he might have had an interest in them at the time. Nice boots iirc.

Going to show my age now...
I used to have one of these little chaps.
And one of these on my Herald
Both from Esso. The rival thing was bullet hole transfers (alright, decals) to go on your car's glass. From Shell, if memory serves.
Big brother had an orange glass fibre whip aerial on his Bond Bug.
I had a pair of those black tinted 'shades' for my the headlamps on my XR3i. Not entirely sure why.
While in memory mode, I recall Tony Bostock (in 'Car Mechanics') finishing a Herald (with a moonroof-type hardtop) in flock - it looked offal.
I also remember Charles Deane (editor of Motorcycle Monthly?). In many issues, he was writing from a hospital bed, depending on which test bike he'd dropped that month. Serve him right - for putting a teeny headlamp, sissy bar and iron cross tail light on a BSA Bantam and calling it a 'chopper'.
Fortunatley, what goes around doesn't always come around. However, some of the above are apparently collectable.
