Used camping gear for refugees
Discussion
Something to think about for those of us who buy camping gear just for Le Mans and leave it at the campsite for the s to scavenge. If enough of us decide to take this stuff back as far as Calais we could get a convenient drop off point set up by the guys at Help Refugees. Due to what's been going on there recently they could do with it far more than the dirty s!
Let me know your thoughts. I know volunteers who work at the camp and they'll be very welcoming of anything.

Spot on fatboy18 why help those who are trying to gain entry without the correct paperwork or means to do so!
Why not put them in your car and take them across the channel with you Heartworm, they would thank you more for doing that for them!

DONT WANT THEM IN MY COUNTRY PAL. I see you come from Scotland, you're welcome to them there. I'M ENGLISH
Whatever "ENGLISH" is? A country founded on migration: you're most likely French or German (royal family anyone?), the language is a mix of Greek, Latin, Norse, German and French e.g. bigot is french, troll is norse, tosser, yep, that one's english... irony probably greek.
Is it the Blacks, Asians, Arabs, Muslims or other group that you particularly object to - or just large groups living in tents - bet you love le mans?
There are generally people in those camps who have got there trying to find a better life for themselves and their family; many escaping war and genocide which is no fault of their own - we probably supplied the weapons the various regimes were using against them in the first place.
Generally a migrating population contribute positively to a society - there are criminal elements in all and we seem vilify foreign and glorify home grown..
Anyway - back on topic: thanks for making us aware of the cause: Any spares we can carry on the way back; I will more than happily drop off.
Hmmm... Refugees at Calais...
Yes of course...
Calais is a war zone
France is war zone
Germany is a war zone
Austria is a war zone
Switzerland is a war zone
Slovenia is a war zone
Czech Republic is a war zone
Slovakia is a war zone
Lithuania is a war zone
Italy is a war zone
Slovakia is a war zone
Hungary is a war zone
Romania is a war zone
Croatia is a war zone
Bosnia & Herzegovina is a war zone
Montenegro is a war zone
Serbia is a war zone
Macedonia is a war zone
Albania is a war zone
Bulgaria is a war zone
Greece is a war zone
Yes of course... ever single county above is a total war zone and completely unsafe to claim asylum
The only course of action is to pass through every single country.... above... and come to the UK.
FFS... A legitimate refugee will claim refugee status in any one of the above countries.
The folks at Calais are illegal immigrants.
OP - I tell you what. I will buy your tent at twice the price you paid for it - if you bring it back - and not give it out to some freeloaders who have no business being here.
Or... you can give it to me... and I will try to claim refugee status in Monte Carlo. I always fancied living there.
There is no difference in what the folks in Calais want... ( e.g. to come here ) .... and what I want ( to live in Monte Carlo )
Which makes you feel better, and which of the above war torn countries do you feel is totally unsafe for refugees?

If you hold a British passport you are free to enter Monte Carlo... One of the benefits of being in the EU
OP sell him the tent, buy 2 for the guys in calais and we'll swap him for an illegal with half a brain.

Neither I nor the OP are advocating mass migration to the UK, or attempting to encourage people to turn up in Calais; offering someone a shelter is not the same as arming someone.
We live a privileged life where we can jump in a car, drive to a 'neighbouring' country, (more expensive next year if we leave the EU) watch an amazing sporting event and go home when the booze has worn off. The intention of providing a used tent is nothing more than a humanitarian gesture to provide a basic human need; it will not alter a migrant's desire to come to the UK.

They're probably homeless because we choose to fight our wars abroad. To say only negative things about those in Calais is extremely short sighted and naive in my opinion.
