Nissan Wirral have once again held up on the "car for 14 days" promise you get with a Leaf and the first time we got a 500 mile manual x-trail this time we have a 800 mile automatic x-trail and its such a good "free" plan. The dealer doesnt have to offer your choice and to be honest a Juke would have done - but a big up to the dealer and make sure you use your entitlement!!

What deal is this? 14 days free car hire for longer journeys I'm guessing?

Yes 14 days within your total period not per year - we asked each time for x-trails and got what we wanted saving us circa £500

Same here. Thought asking for an auto may complicate but was handed a QQ Techna with 30 miles on the clock. No hassle at all.

I asked at my local dealer and was told supplying dealer only and then refereed me to the t&cs. Not much use when they are 50 miles away.

Sorry I knew this, I should have mentioned it but if your going away just take the leaf to the supplying dealer and leave it there ?

I'm in bham, dealer is leicester so with mucking around its 2 hours lost. The annoying part is my local dealer is 10 mins from work so I could do a swap over at lunchtime. We use the other half's car instead

My understanding was that this was 14 days per year tbh & I've certainly had that in my first Leaf year! Horrendous Juke (pointless, hateful thing to drive!) but can't quibble with the car swap approach & it's free apart from that weird petrol stuff!

Depends on the dealer. Our local supplying Leaf dealer is Evans Halshaw (.....). We've had two loan cars off them as part of the Nissan UK guarantee.

First time they mysteriously were unable to book it there and then and didn't call back as promised repeatedly. A trip into the dealership finally got it booked, "it" being a top spec Pulsar.

Second time booking done easily by phone. Turn up to collect car. They don't know anything about it. Then offer a Micra. Then claim we're lying that they can't supply a Micra (policy specifically excludes them!) because they always supply a Micra. Then insist we must be wrong when we offer to produce the paperwork showing it was a Pulsar last time. Then a manager comes over, offers his car to sort it, his car is bigger. It's a Leaf. Point out that offering a Leaf as a loan car alternative to a Leaf is stupid. And mysteriously a diesel Note is produced.

Have heard of other dealers being cretins on the loan car as well, it's obviously something Nissan have imposed that some dealers / chains begrudge.

As a postscript the Leaf was getting a service whilst we were away for 5 days in the Note. Service rings as we're on the way to collect saying we can't as there is a puncture. Turns out service report not passed to service desk so they hadn't rung about replacing tyre (genuinely popped and irreparable) or the broken wiper blade. And they hadn't said the creaking folding mirror issue would need parts they didn't have. And they scratched it and didn't tell us.

Evans Halshaw. I know. I should have known better....

Having looked on the website, it appears to be 14 days in any 3 year period, in which case I've had more than that in the last 14 months of ownership from my supplying dealer!

Generally is a petrol Juke, hateful pile of s**t, but they even cover insurance on their policy, so just fuel to pay for.

I'm still trying to find out about the next gen leaf, as my PCP is up next April!

The leaf was due end of the year / q1 17 but the 30kw one needs shifting first and I would expect huge deals on a 30 this Autumn

Keep forgetting about this.
Will have to do it in September as lads weekend in Brecon Beacons and I live in Lincolnshire!

On the 30kw bargains. Driving instructor I know who has a 24kw version has just done a deal on a 65 reg 30kw Tekna for £13k in the pearlescent white. His wife will drive the new one as a private car while he still uses the 24kw for his business.
