Slate, granite or black rectangular shower tray ?
Discussion
Hi all
Looking for a black or slate / granite look rectangular shower tray .... must be 900mm wide and either 1400, 1600 or 1700 long.
This is for a wet room so need to be fitted flush.
We were looking at Merlyn 1700*900 tray but a distributor has said they are having manufacturing problems and may have no stock until July....and no guarantees on that.
Anyone got any other makes we should look at.....also looking at Simpsons trays.
Thanks for any pointers

Sorry, should explain further. Thats what we had before with mosaic tiles over. Bathroom 6 years old, but somehow, the tanking failed and we had a leak directly below the corner of the shower where it leaked, so we've had the entire floor lifted and are starting again, and despite the fitter saying he's never seen it before, and tanking etc is safer, the missus won't hear it and wants a "flush" tray in the shower area.

Tanking frequently fails. Seen enough problems with wet room showers in new houses, a tray helps, but that's not guaranteed either. Showers are a right royal PITAYes, seems we were unlucky, even with tanking failing. If it had failed directly over the tray underneath we would have been fine, but it failed right in the corner so there was a path for the water to work it s way underneath easily. Still a bit of a mystery as the tray underneath was absolutely rock solid with no movement at all. The fitter had to cut it out and it was a pain of a job without damaging the wall tiles.
Still looking for recommendations, or if anyone has an inside view of what's happening with Merlyn ? ... As their 1700*900 truestone tray looks perfect for us.......
