Do preppers have friends? When the chips are down, don't they become rivals/competitors/antagonists who, if you don't shoot them first, would slit your throat for your last pack of Lilets.
You're a walking dead fan, sad.

So what you're saying is leach of your family and friends. Don't expect anyone to prepare for the worst, there will always be jobs, petrol, clean water, safety and phone signal. What could possibly go wrong.
Chemicals leach and people leech.

Is it so utterly beyond you to throw words together properly?

This right here is the problem with preppers, shame you can't see that. What you see as leaching, I see as sharing of resources. The way the human race got out of caves was to co-operate and help each other, that's how societies are built. IF we were to suffer some massive catastrophe, it's not the efforts of a few, sad, lonely, paranoid preppers that are going to rebuild the human race.

It's called being parasite.

What if your friends and family have the same exact attitude? Who will they rely upon?

I've never seen any walking dead but then...I can't be bothered with the obvious punchline.

That sounds like it came straight off doomsday preppers.

I am not prepping as I've graduated to the next level. I have all the preps and accomplished the prepping abilities within a sensible financial budget. The next level is modern homesteading.

If you mean why do any of this. Then the answer to your question is total economic collapse. Which should have happened in 2008. Except the federal reserve with thanks to fake money through quantitative easing have manipulated and kept the global market on life support. Sooner or later the global financial system will crash.

Therefore the more self sufficient I can be, the less I will be effected.

Take a look in the job subforum and see how many people are hurting being out of work or are adapting to a loss of income.

To be fair we all enjoyed playing Cowboys and Indians as kids, but most of us grew out of it.

5wattGelding - what about your fictional wife? Is she required to prep for herself or will you allow her to share your food and tampons?

I'll take the multiple responses to others while ignoring this one as a sign. smile

Carry on by all means - it's quite fun to watch - but if you actually want people to at least have some empathy with your view, even while disagreeing with it, admitting the occasional overstep like that one would go a long way. Might even paint you as someone willing to take on board when they are mistaken.

Or not. Your choice, what with living in the land of the free and all that.

I've seen Shaun of the Dead, I'm holing up in a record shop. I always knew there was a good reason for hanging on to your vinyl.

Do you really think I post on here to gain empathy and acceptance. Dude, I give no fks if my self sufficiency offends people. If you don't share an interest in the subject, jog on and look at the expensive belts thread where an office boy does not have to deal with the harsh reality of a modern world.

No, but I do wonder why you post, 'cos you're clearly not going to effect change.

Doesn't "offend" me, I couldn't care, it's your money to spend as you wish. Show me where I said it did.

The subject I'm interested in is the one where you blatantly made stuff up to justify your choices, were called out on it, and would now rather swear and insult people than just admit it. Yet again.

So many assumptions and attempted insults. Still, very neat deflection, and a lot more effort than just saying "ah, OK, I got that one wrong" and carrying on as you were.

Still, keeps everyone entertained so crack on.

Still not prepared just say "ah OK, I got the London riots stuff wrong" and move on? Let's face it, it's not like people are going to stop taking you seriously as a result, they did that a long time ago.

Which - serious question - begs, what do you hope to gain by continuing in here? I've been one of the least-insulting people of the past several pages, yet you decide to throw insults because I won't just let a point drop?

aaanyway, keep it up with the personal attacks interspersed with far-right rhetoric. It's nice to be reminded what freedom smells like.

Why, will the French owners of the waste companies have withdrawn funding and the rubbish will be rotting in the streets?
