Can't remember where I heard it (probably some BS management course) but they said that if the supply chain failed, then London would have 3 days supply of food at most. I asked what about food in peoples freezers and just got a STFU death stare from the bird running the course.
...utter bks, of course. Everyone I know has significant food in cupboards / the fridge. If she said 3 weeks then yes. 3 days? Could do that just on cerial and milk!A lot of people, especially those in smaller or shared accommodation rely on virtually a daily resupply.
Course there's also the issue of people "wanting" their favourite products. Just take a look at the totally overwhelming variety of that most basic foodstuff, bread, in your nearest supermarket.

Preppers - where do you plan to bug out to?
Do you think the country people will welcome you with open arms or do you think nobody will notice?
My cabin in the mountains. I know those country people...Do you think the country people will welcome you with open arms or do you think nobody will notice?
If there's a finite amount of food/water then your the odd one out and nobodies sharing there food with some townie who thinks he's bear grylls.

There'd have to be an awful lot of people with no food at all to have a max of 3 days food supply in all of London. 3 days until you ran out of certain items? Maybe. Probably. 3 days until no food left? No chance. Just checked the kitchen. We have 5 or 6 boxes of cerial, plus the weetabix and porridge that lives in jars. It might not be premium, but just brekkie would keep the 3 of us going for 2 weeks if needed. So, to offset _just the breakfast cupboard_, 7 people would need to have no food whatsoever for the 3 days tat to be right. I have other cupboards. There's shops, resteraunts, etc etc.A lot of people, especially those in smaller or shared accommodation rely on virtually a daily resupply.

Tl;dr? The 3 day thing is balls.

If the st hit the fan though , you'd be the outsider despite what you think.

I value your point, I disagree however. My area is abundent in wildlife. Rabbits, turkey, deer, bears, plus a large river system where I could fish every night if I choose. If there's a finite amount of food/water then your the odd one out and nobodies sharing there food with some townie who thinks he's bear grylls.
Water, the rainfall here can be heavy, I can attach 55gallon water drums the roof rains and purify the water, while I have a well, plus grid water. I am by no means fully off the grid, it takes time and money. However I am 90% better off than the average person.
You are essentially like somebody who has a 2nd home in cornwall, the locals will be nice to you but you are not one of them because your not part of the community.
The wildife the locals will all know about because they live there 24/7 not a few weekends a year.
Your fish , they can just stretch a net with hooks on upstream from you and there goes your fish supply.
Realist prep: the means to remove myself from the equation before I die a nasty death related to lack of personal care support, meds/medical care, or power.
What's supposed to be the plan for when your 1 week's worth of water runs out? What scenario can you think of where your own supply is your only access to safe water but you can replenish it after a week?
It doesn't work.
More realistic option in these times: being prepared with essential documents, enough critical medication and sufficient finance for immediate international travel. Only thing I can think of that's likely to actually help in a subset of the ways st might hit the fan.

This is the region where I live, the range stretches from Canada all the way to North East Alabama. My biggest risk is bugging out through a major choke point in a city. My solution was to find multiple alternative routes avoiding interstates and carrying enough petrol to make the trip. It is also possible to travel from one side of the state to another via enduro without even being seen. The most important factor is carrying enough petrol.
You will die before you get there. A hillbilly will enjoy your fully prepped cabin. I too will die. But at least I won't be a laughing stock for the preceding 50 years.
I don't care much for what will become of humanity post prepalution.
It will be less a world of Einsteins and more a world of halfwits. To live past the brilliance of men into the time of hole dwellers and scavengers is one I would rather not share. Survival would be at a price beyond one worth paying.
Good luck with it preppers, but just remember, you're only ever one foot step away from the snare that'll have you roasted with an apple in your gob and a carrot up your arse.
Deliverance had it spot on.
