I've had Aventus before but can't quite get with spending £150+ on one bottle....yet...!
Based on recommendations from this thread I've ordered the following:
Item: 1 x Green Irish Tweed: 2ml Spray Sample @ £4.48 ex VAT
Item: 1 x Ombré Leather 16: 2ml Spray Sample @ £5.38 ex VAT
Item: 1 x Aventus: 20ml Decanted Bottle @ £32.39 ex VAT
Item: 1 x Bleu de Chanel - Eau de Parfum: 10ml Spray Sample @ £14.94 ex VAT
Item: 1 x Man - In Black: 10ml Spray Sample @ £14.94 ex VAT
I then accidentally added
Item: 1 x Tobacco Vanille: 5ml Spray Sample @ £11.97 ex VAT
Didn't realise they'll chuck a freebie in as well - be nice to get something random I may not have picked before. I'll let you know what they put in and whether I rate it or not!
Some nice choices in there. I couldn't get away with the Irish Tweed and my other half threatened to leave me if I ever wore it again Based on recommendations from this thread I've ordered the following:

The Ombre Leather 16 is fantastic stuff and I've just ordered a 3ml sample. I loved it right away, she wasn't overly keen but after 10 minutes she changed her mind.
I do love the Aventus too and also added that to my sample order.
Not tried the others but I still have a 5ml bottle of Tobacco Vanille and that's my favourite at the minute. Again, it's one of those that women go out of there way to ask what I'm wearing. They then normally tell me they're going to buy it for their husbands thus crushing my lady killer fantasy

Agua Brava, classic but rare, IF and WHEN you have a chance try it out,
maybe on holidays in Spain because it is made there by Puig.
90 for a bottle in UK is riduculous, in Germany I pay not even half.
Douglas stopped selling it years ago, 1 (one) supplier in Germany stocks it.
£29 here, if it's the same stuff.maybe on holidays in Spain because it is made there by Puig.

Aramis Tuscany, been wearing it for years. Liked Jazz when it was popular in the 90's but the recent incarnation of it smells nothing like the original (rose tinted nostrils ?). You could stink out a train carriage with that stuff.
Remember one of Jack Dee's sketches, went along the lines of,
"Estate Agents. I never realised just how much aftershave they wear. When the survey came back on the house we discovered it was suffering from rising Kouros"

The Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille arrived this morning. Gotta be honest it's a bit so-so. Wouldn't spend £140 on a bottle of it!
I think this is one that needs time to mellow on the skin. It lasts all day and I prefer the base notes to the opening. Agreed on the price though, there are similar others for much less. toasty said:

Couldn't find any Kouros so thought I would try Creed's Bois du Portugal Funk said:

Just FYI Boss fans I was wandering through Boots today and noticed Boss Bottled Intense EDT is on a half price offer 100ml for £32 (didn't check when offer ends)
Boss The Scent is one of my current favourites, I'd recommend this too.HustleRussell said:
Dare I say it... I've always thought of aftershave as a bit 'council'.
Me to.I've still got three quarters of a bottle of Hai Karate I bought in 1969.
I was fed up of fighting the girls off....

I have 40 different bottles right now, it was my hobby before I passed got my driving license and was interested in cars.
It's funny I seem to go through different phases. I was into fashion, fragrance and watches, then around that time I got heavily into working out and going out. That phase really improved my self confidence. Now I am into cars and have stopped caring about my previous hobbies.
I also spent a lot of time working. I feel like I need to get back to my previous hobbies and move cars to secondary spot.

Calling all male fragrances "aftershave" is council.Fragrances come in different concentrations and have different corresponding names.
Parfum or extrait, in English known as perfume extract, pure perfume, or simply perfume: 15–40% (IFRA: typical ~20%) aromatic compounds.
Eau de Parfum (EdP), Parfum de Toilette (PdT): 10–20% (typical ~15%) aromatic compounds, sometimes listed as "eau de perfume" or "millésime"
Eau de Toilette (EdT): 5–15% (typical ~10%) aromatic compounds
Eau de Cologne (EdC), often simply called cologne: 3–8% (typical ~5%) aromatic compounds; see below for more information on the confusing nature of the term "cologne"
At the very bottom you have aftershaves which are mostly just alcohol and very insignificant amount of aromatic compounds.
Most of the designer fragrances talked about in this thread and that you can find in shops are Eau de Toilettes (EdTs) not aftershaves.
I thought I'd come back and update with my thoughts on my recent purchases...
Creed Green Irish Tweed
Tom Ford Ombré Leather 16
Creed Aventus
Bleu de Chanel
Bvlgari Man - In Black
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Scent Samples also included the following for free with my order:
Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
Creed Original Vetiver
Creed Aventus: Loved this from the first time I smelled it and will, at some point, buy a proper bottle.
Creed GIT: Not quite so sure on this one, first impressions are that it actually smells a bit 'cheap'. Settles down after a while but I can't help think it's a bit of an 'old man' scent. There are others I'd buy ahead of this one, put it that way.
Tom Ford Ombré Leather 16: It definitely smells leathery but initially also smelled a little like disinfectant which was off-putting... I ran it past a friend of mine and she asked why you'd want to smell like a shoe but this did settle down quite nicely after a while. Not sure I'd buy a full bottle of it but I might buy another small spray from SS again.
Chanel Bleu de Chanel: Added this one on a complete whim (and someone's comment on here). Very much a 'daytime' one, quite strong on initial application but settles down into a really lovely crisp, subtle scent. I'll probably buy a bottle of this.
Bvlgari Man - In Black: This was another whimsical pick from a couple of comments on here and surprisingly for me I think it's my favourite of all the ones I ordered. I'll be buying a bottle of this.
Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille: I'll say this; it definitely smells tobacco-y and vanille-y! It's a very 'thick' scent, a little overbearing for me and bordering on sickly. It's a no from me on this one too.
And so to the freebies...
Tom Ford Neroli Portofino: Very different to the other Tom Fords, I don't dislike this one at all. It's a much lighter fragrance, far more subtle. Having looked up the price for a bottle though (£150 for 100ml) I wouldn't ever buy it.
Creed Original Vetiver: This is a very subtle smell, even immediately after application. A little too 'floral' for me and stayed too subtle, perhaps in part due to it being unisex. I don't dislike it but as with the GIT and Tom Ford Neroli there are others I'd buy in preference.
Given how much I like the Aventus I was expecting great things from the other Creed fragrances but they weren't for me. The surprises were the ones I nearly didn't add to my basket - the Bvlgari and Chanel - which are my clear favourites from the selection and I'll definitely be getting a bottle of each. Interestingly they're also the cheaper ones with the Bvgari at £75 for 100ml and the Bleu de Chanel at £65 for the same. Just goes to show that dearer isn't always necessarily better.
All in all it's been quite good fun testing these and a Scent Samples is a great way to be able to try something expensive at low cost. Given how fragrances change from initial application and from one person's skin to another, in-store is a terrible way to test them out (more so if they only spray it on the bit of card!). Several of these smelled unpleasant at first but really settled down nicely such as the Ombré Leather 16.
Thumbs up for the Aventus, Bvlgari and Chanel then!

Do you wear these on a regular basis?I watched a film called The Single Man http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1315981/?ref_=nv_sr_2 I read that the Director asked Colin Firth to wear Creed Bois de Portugal during fiming because that is what the character wore in the book, to help him with his character in the film.
Just curious and using the links in this thread I purchased a sample. It's nice but really strong to the point I would think people would smell me before I reached them. I just sprayed a bit on the back of my hand and it was a way too strong, to the point I wouldn't wear that around people.
