I tried the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille again yesterday and I think I might be coming round to it.
I tried to persevere with this but found it horribly sickly sweet.
I've found it very sweet initially but it seems to settle down after a while.
Just tried a 5ml of this and I absolutely love it. Will be getting a full size bottle.

Impressed with scent samples. Very good idea.

Ordered an Amouage Ciel yesterday having had a few sample sprays of it, absolutely lovely fragrance imo.

And to whoever likes Joop, try Creed Original Santal for a much more refined take on that fragrance.

The thread inspired me.
Just ordered a 200ml vat of Hugo Boss (my default for years but not had any in for a while)
& Michael Kors 120ml

Bought through Quidco so should get 6.5% cashback making these virtually free.........

I stumbled on Tom ford oud wood today. Wow. Had to buy

They had 50ml and 250ml in stock. 100ml would have been my preference. 50ml is st value. 250ml is a decanting thing. I just spilled about 10ml on the fking floor. Next time will use a syringe

Spilled some on my hands too. Absolutely gorgeous smell

Yes that is nice stuff.

So far my preference is:
1. Tom Ford Ambre Leather 16
2. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
3. Creed Aventus
4. Tom Ford Oud Wood
5. Victor Rolf Spice Bomb Extreme

I'm still getting small samples of others to try out. A bit hit and miss but I also have a load of other aftershave to get through so I'm not wearing my favourites as much as I'd like while I whittle them down.

Most Amouage scents are lovely. I'll be very tempted to get a full bottle of Jubilation XXV once my sample runs out.

Notino are worth checking out as they often have discounts on Amouage and Creed. Don't believe the % savings though as they seem to be made up, just compare the prices.

Thanks for that, £35 cheaper than Selfridges so I'll order and then return my Selfridges order.

How long does creed actually last? I can't even smell it and someone just asked if I was wearing it.

Looks like they have done away with the 30ml bottle as well and now the smallest you can get is 50ml for £170

Oddly enough, Creed Aventus and Green Irish Tweed are the only scents I can actually smell while wearing. I pretty much never smell anything else on myself.

It's a good question - I think it's the sort of scent that you stop smelling after a while, but everyone else can still detect. Certainly it's lasted 5-6 hours on me going by the comments I've had, when I can really only smell it for the first 5-10 minutes.

It's certainly worth sampling from your local department store or scent samples. They do some stunning fragrances but also a couple of stinkers IMHO. It's worth spending a few quid on samples to find out which ones work for you.

They're also kind of a good gateway into the higher end of fragrances (Clive Christian, Roja Dove, Amouage, Xerjoff etc.) where they become more unique, multi layed and longer lasting but at a, sometimes obscene, price.

The Aventus is my one of my favourites but I prefer a couple of Tom Fords. From the comments I've had though, Creed is the one that women like the most if that means anything to you.

If anyone fancies doing splits I'm happy buying a 500ml and decanting into 100s.
£120 a head if 4 other people do it which makes it literally half retail.
Probably a tenner on top to get atomisers and postage?
Just a thought!
