Stolen car - Volvo Amazon

Posted on behalf of a member of the Volvo owner's club forum.

Stolen last night in Sheffield: light blue Volvo 121 Amazon (fitted with a roof rack at the time of theft) - the reg plate is LBL 85E.

The car was stolen without the keys so may so signs of hotwiring or other ignition damage.

Please keep your eyes peeled for this car and report any information to the police (if you drop me a PM with any news I will forward information on to the owner).

The owner has reported the theft to the police and is keeping an eye on the local banger racing scene…

Magnus (the missing Amazon) has been found!

The car is with the police at the moment for forensic tests and hopefully will be back with Andrew (the owner) in the near future.

The thieving scum stole the radiator grilles, the roofrack, numberplates and wing mirrors... but at least the car is ok.

Thanks to all who kept their eyes open and helped to spread the word.

Nice to see you got your Volvo back with little damage.

While we are on the subject of "Scum night visitors" all you classic owners in the Oxfordshire/Berkshire area watch out there may be some very unwanted classic car "enthusiasts" about?.A number of us keep classic cars in barns at a mates farm,ideal location in the middle of nowhere,or so we thought.Anyway they broke into one barn holding three fully restored 60`s Rootes models.I suppose they wanted to drive the cars away?
Trouble is all the rock apes succeeded in doing was damage door locks, dash areas,destroy ignition switches and steering locks,rip out wiring,and on one they even snapped the steering column shaft,the other they broke the steering wheel.FFS !!!
So as the brain dead F******!! had made them all undrivable they gave up and on the way out they sprayed aerosol black paint over the bonnet of one of the cars. Makes you cry with rage doesn't it.
Now its flood lights,cameras,wheel clamps,lots of metal bars all that sort of stuff.Going to cost us £1000`s.
OR? some very big horrible hungry dogs ?.

I'm sorry to hear this, they must have been scumbag kids though, without wishing to cause offence these vehicles would n't have the sort of values to attract professional car thieves surely?

Do you honestly believe "kids" are going to go out and steal an old Volvo in order to sell stolen classic car parts? - I can't see it happening!

actually isn't this the perfect sweet spot for thieves. There is a strong demand for good quality NOS or second hand parts for these vehicles, so breaking them is the plan and because they are not rare, the parts will just disappear into the general mix. If it was vintage Aston or Jag parts, people would be on the look-out for new availability of rare bits.

Yes, the theft of classic cars to break for spares is on the increase as it's a very lucrative business right now.

However, I'd say it's far more likely to be carried out by 25 year old+ thieving scumbags than kids.

Most odd. All things you could steal in about 5 mins with a screwdriver. What were they expecting to do with the number plates? At least if they appear on Ebay or somewhere it gives you a lead.

Will have to be careful with mine, the locks are not exactly secure, or entirely functional.
