Well the time has come to sell the TT. Had her 2.5yrs and she has been faultless and probably the best all round sports cars I have owned or driven. Longest I have kept a car but the change itch has started and needs scratching.

So Q1:
The spec is as follows, appreciate not the lowest mileage and modified from an interest perspective...views on this (and I am not asking a value Q as these seem to get the post killed)...

Silver / black leather
Manual
X50
DMS chip to c.500bhp
FSH
88k

Q2:
What next??
I do mainly London and motorway miles, fairly open to choices with a budget of £40-£60k. Don't want 4 doors, not interested in a highly strung race mobile (have a cheap track day car for that), low miles pa so fuel not an issue, needs to be relatively reliable, hate depreciation so something that has taken that hit...other than that something that makes you want to go out and drive it really.

Thoughts are:

Maserati GT 4.7
Aston DB9
R8 V10
Others??

Cheers

Had this exact discussion with my friend (JulesV) on the way to Le Mans this year driving his 996tt down, we really struggled to think of something that was as good...

One thing that was mentioned was the F Type?

Glorious cars, however too much depreciation to come for now. Definitely one for 5 years time.

This indeed is the only concern i'd also have (I noticed your mention on depreciation.) but my god do they sound good.

Be interesting to see what others here suggest!

May seem a silly suggestion as so similar, but I would try a newer lower mileage 997 turbo and visit 9E

997.2 PDK Turbo - They are creeping into 997.1T Manual prices, and unlike the 997.1 are a proper performance step up from the 996T (in stock form)

Either that or a R8 V10 (as suggested)

I have idly toyed with that idea as well and, unsurprisingly, my list of alternatives has been pretty similar to yours. Beyond that, you might wish to consider the Nissan GTR (not really my kind of thing but there again I've never driven one), the Jaguar XKR-S (might feel a bit 'previous generation' vs the F-Type), or the Lotus Evora 400 (too pricey? Maybe consider the Evora S?). More left-field, maybe an Alfa 4C...?

4C looks like a fun proposition but Iimagine the exhaust note from the 4 pot is a bit disappointing (even coming from a 996T!). Exige S3 may be a better move?

ive spent a lot of time thinking about this too. Love my 996t so much and the only cars that I would move to would be an r8 v8 or an N400 in that bracket. Didn't think the 997t was that exciting in stock form.

Just sold my 996T. Unfortunately I live in the Netherlands where cars are expensive to buy because of the high taxes and expensive to run also. Have had 3 Porsche's now and simply need to look at consolidating some costs for a year or two, and want something fun, that is newer with lower costs and maintenance.

Looked at a Cayman or Boxster GTS - but these are still relatively new here and a 12 month old car still close to EUR90-100k.

So have just ordered a new Mini JCW. Driven a few demonstrators now and it has that "fun" factor that I've missed and an exhaust note that leaves a big stupid grin on your face - leaving a 50 something feeling like a 17 year old.
