My patio doors are exposed to a lot of wet and windy weather, and as they are a bit drafty and act as a cold bridge they need to be replaced. For various reason bi-fold doors are not suitable, so I'm looking for new, high performance, patio doors. Google returns lots of hits claiming to be high quality/high performance, but with nothing to substantiate the claims. Can anyone recommend a reliable manufacturer, preferably one which they have direct experience of?

Thanks,

Ian.

Wood preferably, but not essential.

iv only ever fitted nordan sliding patio doors, they are very well built and can cope with the extreme weather we get locally here

Another recommendation for the Nordan doors. Very well made and quite reasonable for what you actually get vs horrible flimsy PVC tat. We're on the coast outside Aberdeen.

Have a 3m set coming in a few weeks, looking forward to getting them in alongside their 6month old brothers.

They are RAL7016 to match the Nordan windows and you need to specify them with Alu cladding. Only costs a few pounds more.

i would suggest regular maintenance/ greasing of the lock mechanism etc on nordan doors especially if you are on the coast, also the aluclad ones that i have seen have had corrosion after 3-4 years

Just the sort of input I need, thanks.

Going to see if there are samples of the doors in their showroom next week.

Who else makes good patio doors? confused (It looks like Nordan no longer have patio doors in their range.)

We've Valfec fitted. Thermally good, mechanisms well engineered, and IMO look good (wood/aluminium composite)

We recently had three sets of French doors (plus 6 windows) supplied by Patchett Joinery - absolutely excellent quality and not unreasonable price for the quality imho. We had custom matched to F&B colours - with different colours inside and outside

PM me if you want any pics or idea of pricing etc
