GT4 IN LESS THAN 12HOURS
Discussion
Found the car i wanted its nearly exactly as i would of specced it and i cant wait collecting tommorow first thing in the morning and will have a 140 mile trip home to get used to it.Yes before you ask i have had to pay over, but i consider these cars to have been well underpriced from porsche and even though i didnt want to pay over i weighed up everything and wanted a as new very low mileage car and there going to be harder to get as time goes on.Ive gone for yellow, pics to follow.

You won't regret it. Mine had sat in the garage for 2 weeks due to work and kids.
Did a quick "we need some bread and milk" shopping run on Saturday (7 miles, I went the long way round and did 57) and it reminded me they are epic machines. They just have 'it' (not fastet or prettiest) but a big smile on my face since, so I am sure you will enjoy it!

Congratulations and we look forward to seeing the pictures. The spec that YOU want on these cars is key IMO and any of us not lucky enough to get an allocation have had to pay overs but the car is fantastic and as you say underpriced from new.
Run it in nicely, then stick loads of miles on it and enjoy it as Porsche intended.
With a little luck of few of us may get a shot at the next one straight out of the factory.
Hope you manage to get a few hours sleep tonight.

dont worry i got home and loved every minute of the drive home, been giving it a good coat of collinite wax so sorry for radio silence,i will give you the spec tommorrow along with some piccies, but i went for yellow with comfort 18 way adjustable seats as i want to use this as a car for fun road trips to europe and find it much easier to get out in tight places with the comfort seats.Hell the sound is fantastic and love the throttle blip when sport button on.Smiling ear to ear.

sorry for delay chaps been crazy at work, have given the car a proper protection now with collinite ltd edition wax, scotchguarded the whole interior and shes ready for st anton next month, will get some piccies up in next few days. The car was specced with around 15k of extras and was first registered a week ago so its one of the last i would of thought to come through unless there is still people waiting for them.Have allready ordered a spare splitter as it is low and at the price they are there a relative bargain at the moment.Must say im amazed at how well put together the car is with excellent paintwork and overall finish. Will post lots of pics as soon as possible.

Congrats. Sounds great and well done for bucking the trend by going for the 18way seats. Mine is due at the dealers in August and will also have the same seats along with a fair bit of additional spec. Can't wait!cheers simon

Look forward to seeing the pics. Done a deal on my own GT4 today and I'm coming out of a McLaren 650 Spider !!
Interesting, what made you come out of the 650S into the GT4? I was searching pistonheads and wondering about going the other way so would be interested to hear your thoughtsLook forward to seeing the pics. Done a deal on my own GT4 today and I'm coming out of a McLaren 650 Spider !!

I was at goodwood festival of speed talking with one of the head guys at McLaren, just before I left the stand asked him what car did he drive it was a Porsche.
Most of the McL workers are Porsche obsessed, and it is McLaren's company strategy to have each of their models be faster than the equivalent comparable Porsche. I think one of the senior heads there has something like 10 Porsches in his personal collection. Shiverman said:

It's very quick, superbly damped and has great steering and excellent feel. But it's also a pretty exotic thing in many ways, construction, parts, servicing etc all commensurate with "if you have to ask you can't afford it". I'm normally cool with that but recently been feeling the pinch a little business wise, getting ever so slightly pissed off at warranty conditions that cost £300 a pop for pre/post track day inspections and ceramics that anecdotally last a handful of TD's. And a general feeling that the performance , whilst just awesome, is also difficult to really exploit on UK roads.I honestly reckon I've only really floored the throttle 20-25 times in 3000 miles, part throttle is more than sufficient in nearly every case.
So a move back to Porsche suits me best and I've considered 991 and 997 GT3s but in truth the 991 is still too much and the 997 feels dated and I've been there and done that several times. Cayman strikes me as the best overall choice for an interactive sweet handling Porsche GT car at the moment. Not quite settled yet but very likely to do it.
