I'd borrow one of these.

Lifetimes power supply, Fairly safe from Predators, Few years food supply and fresh water on tap.

I like that...wouldn't it need more than just 'you' to operate though?

Preferably a few guys with a degree in nuclear engineering, and welding/ship maintenance.

When it all got a bit much I would find an airfield with an airworthy Spitfire and have a go at getting it off the ground.

Honestly, I don't think that is very realistic for a bloke on his tod.

Wouldn't you need someone to hold the bits of string when you got into port?

To everyone dreaming of empty roads - good luck ridding them of the millions of abandoned cars that choke them.
But most of these cars would be in the middle lane so that would leave the left hand lane for hooning.
Or everyone disappeared at 3.30am where no bugger was on the road
That's what I'd be hoping for. Race tracks should all be free though, and would represent a much lower risk of getting trapped in a wrecked car. Handy when there's no ambulance service, although that depends on whether apes still exist and how well you can train them... there's an amusing thought

That's one of the reasons I'd move location.
Better quality roads on the continent...

Yep. That Ascari place can't be too far from Catalunya and Jerez, too. Nice collection right there, and the Pyrenees just up the road. I've holidayed a fair bit on the Med coast, so I'm not sure I'd want to go there. Seeing it deserted and decaying could easily tip me over the edge, I've so many happy memories there

Or it could become more beautiful as nature reclaims what it once owned....
I mean you could still sit on your patio overlooking Monaco and watch the twinkly lights...or the Spanish equivalent...
Or go somewhere without light pollution and see night skies like never before...

That's all well and good, but the best burger I've ever eaten is at Le Show Devant in Argeles Sur Mer, and with no staff to cook it I might just go insane

Light pollution? Wouldn't that cease to be a problem within weeks, when the unattended power stations fail?

And I expect urban landscapes would initially be reclaimed by the more 'robust' flora and fauna. Weeds, rats, cockroaches etc.

Another downside of cities would be the vast amount of decaying human remains. Probably being eaten by feral pets.

I don't think I like this new world.

I think I'd last about two months. Then I'd head for the local airfield, help myself to a light aircraft (I've logged 10 hours flight training so can probably manage), fly it out to sea, and skydive from a great hight without a parachute.

Not sure if the nuclear power stations would keep going a bit longer?
I'd not live in the urban, city parts anyway, close enough to plunder a bit of fuel and chocolate
Far enough away not to have to deal with the body count...
The view from my pad will be beautiful.
I don't think I'd end myself prematurely...not on purpose anyway..

I assume it has been studied in great depths before, but how long would utilities be expected to last?

Conventional power statiins, no more than a week, generally. Across the country, the grid itself is apparently under constant repair somewhere, so that may go out within 24 hours in certain places.

hmm I wonder...

I'd live in a place where the climate meant solar was viable for most of the year, and where wood was abundant for the rest of the time...
And a nice steam traction engine in the garden hehe

To all intents and purposes wood and sufficient fire starting stuff would see you right....right?

I was thinking this. I would do whatever I could to accumulate some serious fire power and then just drive around blowing st up.

Could have a lot of fun there, like finding out how many cows can you blow up with a single grenade, and what happens if you feed nitroglycerin to chickens and then set fire to them.
You need looking at.
