PH member CharlesdeGaulle, though he does appreciate a fine bit of council.

Just had a thought though - is being proud of not being council, a bit council in itself? This would make you a bit council even though, on the surface, you wouldn't appear to be council. Being not council therefore can = council.
No that's middle class. The middle classes are acutely aware of needing to differentiate themselves from working class / council. The genuine upper classes are often lovely people beacuse they are so secure in their position they really don't give a crap about proving it, and don't need to look down their noses at other people as a way of affirming that they are 'above' them.
Jesus Christ.
Writing 'Jesus Christ' or 'Jesus wept' after posts which you disapprove o,f but to which you are unable to formulate a coherent reply, is definitely council.

Sending a letter (yes an actual letter) to friends and family at Christmas saying how the children are and highlighting any significant events through the previous year.

My Mum always receives several.

A neatly tended garden, the lack of a donor SD1 Rover and no sign of a caravan covered in tree sap.

Editing a post so it appears to be (c)rude is quite council.

Could I offer having a house with a name not a number (or should that be Residence)
Does not include numbered houses that folk have decided to name though and insisting folk use it when addressing the house. This is very council. This would piss me off if I were a postman.

For example:

Rose Cottage,
123 Fake Street,
Fakeland.

This is very council IMHO, the one we went to (opps) was just a glorified Butlins in the woods. Still lots of folk in the sports bar getting a bit drunk and shouting endlessly at their kids.

Eating properly and going to proper establishments rather than fast food places (though admittedly I did stop off for a Burger King on a long journey home yesterday, sue me.
As long as you ate said burger with a knife and fork I see no need to take this matter any further.

I would say they are a large step up from Butlins, glorified maybe and more expensive so it pushes most of the council chavs away.

Note: This UK holiday is just in addition to the annual 3 week USA holiday of coarse.
