More than a bit shocked at the insurance quotes I am getting for a 2015 Gen 1 R8 V10.
I am in my early 40s, clean licence, employed, no accident history, house in nice area with garage.
Quotes about 1500£, 7000miles, SDP&C, car value 80k. I know its a powerful car but is x3 what I have been quoted for a 991 GT3. I guess there has been at least one high profile accident involving a spyder (in Birmingham).
Any advice greatly accepted......and no I dont want black box insurance!

I have Admiral multi-car cost me an extra £450 to add my R8 V10 to the policy; I'm just over 50 clean license.

No problem here - about £650 with Admiral for a 2016 Gen-2. 37 years old, clean licence, no accidents and parked on a driveway in a Leicestershire postcode.

This is with both my wife (30) and her father (about 172) on the policy, both of who increase the cost.

Worth noting, I was told that parking in the garage actually increases cost, something to do with damage caused going in and out of garages funnily enough. But it won't be a material amount that'll halve the inflated cost you appear to have been quoted.

Ive got a gen 1 V8 but the rest of my stats are similar to yours. I pay £360 sdp 6000 miles a year with admiral through the comparison sites.

Similar story to OP , just got quotes on compare the market for 14 plate V10+ cheapest £1100 but that's with a poxy blackbox fitted! I have 9 yrs no claims, 37 yrs old based in London, currently have an RS6 insured with Direct line so haven't checked with them to see what it would cost to add the V10 to the policy but they have always insisted on poxy trackers in these type of cars...any insurers that don't insist on the tracker?

Admiral don't require trackers or black boxes. I find Direct Line won't touch things worth over 50k a lot of the time now.

I've had previous good experience with Aviva as well.
