Thought I'd do a bit of a thread on my new to me car. Having only owned 4x4's and coming from a Mercedes G wagen its going to be a bit of a change!
Its going to be having a number of changes and upgrades.
The base vehicle is a Morgan 4/4 1 previous owner, full service history 38k miles car with a history folder that is huge. Being a 2000 model it has the ford zetec engine so should prove cheap to run.
anyway plans are to fit;
-roll cage
-jw speaker led lights
-remove bumpers
-fit a lower valance panel
-radio upgrade
-my private plate put on
and numerous other bits im sure that will come over time.
anyway heres a pic as it currently sits before collection tomorrow

Roll cage?

Some clear indicator lenses would suit that colour scheme.

Nice

Please keep the wheels like this. Or polish them.

But I personally would say black wouldnt suit it.

I like the chrome wheels personally but for daily use, black will be easier in winter!

Following with interest, I'd love to run a moggy but a lack of isofix for precious cargo rules it out for a few years yet (according to the boss).

I understand that taking down and putting the soft top can be a bit of a faff. There is an upgrade made by a company called Simmonds which would be a good investment.

Cheers Guys
yes ive seen that mod about the roof but couldn't really see an issue myself when I tried it, i'll consider it though if I find an issue fitting it.

Regards to the wheels, I should be a bit clearer that they aren't mint condition anyway hence the reasoning, its also booked in next month to have both wings and rear arches resprayed as have a couple of marks on them.

to LOH I believe the 4 seater will be getting rear isofix points designed into the seats soon from what I have read (love reading your threads by the way and will try and update this with changes)

I'll be the first to say that what I plan on doing wont be to everyones tastes but intend to make it more usable and fun all year round rather than a sunny weekend special.

Cheers Tom

Sounds like you are mildly hot-rodding your Morgan! I kind of like the sound of that thumbup

I'd even go as far as putting more modern alloys on it.

Just an observation....but could the rear reverse/fogs be replaced with something a bit 'neater'...they just look like an afterthought ( which in a way i suppose they were !). Maybe some discrete modern LEDs ?

It could tidy up the rear view IMO obviously !

I would agree about the roll cage ( I had a 1970 Lotus Elan and it was the first thing I put on it, although the Morgan is a stronger car altogether than an S4SE DHC Elan !)

Also I would change the wires as they take far too much maintenance, but the purists may disagree.

They do look good black rim'd and de-bumpered!

I reckon black steelies might look great too though, but I guess that'd mean messing about with hubs?

Never been a real fan of classic cars but do like the look of this one.

So is it like a kit car with modern-ish engine, gearbox etc, and does it drive/accelerate feeling like a modern car, or is it still more a classic with an upgraded engine ?

Plans sound great! I do love the look of these on black wires. Gives them a more racey look.

Well 200 miles home now completed and just regained feeling in my spine haha
to answer Medics point directly, its a modern engine in old bodywork basically (its even got a radio and heated windscreen!). it does 80mph with ease but the thing you do notice id hard steering (not PAS) and the suspension which is basically non existent to what im used to, but no worse i'd guess than some of the sporty things on here.
The most unusual bit is still seeing the wooden frame really.
I found today with light drizzle occasionally that the roof up and door tops off was the ideal answer.
First mods tomorrow are clear indicators and rear bumperettes. Regards to the fog and reverse, yes I will be looking to find smaller ones.
Then a good clean really and that will do for the time. I'll be sure to get some nice pics once its clean. smile

As a side note it was completely filled to the brim at the start (£35 worth) and is still showing 1/4 after 200 miles of 60-80mph driving, so pretty impressed really

Do you know, I'm quite envious of you using that as a daily driver.

Please keep the updates coming. I suppose the real test will be when winter comes.

Love it. Looks like it was made out of Meccano, which I guess it sort of is. With Zetec power I would think it is rapid and cheap to run.

Well first day has been spent cleaning everything and treating the seats.
modification wise I've managed to remove the rear bumper and fir the replacement (shows the cars lines better), fitted the clear indicators, smaller steering wheel and the LED headlights (plus do the light surround satin black.
Not a bad day really
As a note, for size scale that's a bmw 1 series next to it to show how low it is!
