I've found out that at least 50% of the facts on here aren't facts at all.

Eggs in America are bleached white to make them more appealing to consumers.
Don't think that's right, I'm pretty sure they use a different breed of hen.
They do wash the eggs more than the UK and other nations which apparently increases the risk of salmonella...

I can expand on that.

My wife's grandmother was "Wendy." They lived next door to J M Barrie close to Hyde Park when he was writing Peter Pan. Allegedly he referred to her as his "friendy Wendy" which is where it came from.

Cue jokes about Operation Yewtree etc. I

apparently not...

Odeon Cinemas was created in 1928 by Oscar Deutsch. Odeon publicists liked to claim that the name of the cinemas was derived from his motto, "Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation", but it had been used for cinemas in France and Italy in the 1920s, and the word is actually Ancient Greek. The name "Nickelodeon" was coined in 1905 and was widely used to describe small cinemas in the United States during that era.

The name Cedric originated as a Misprint in the novel Ivanhoe.

The name 'Marion' was originally a boys name, but as it caught on the girls name 'Marian', a corruption of Mary Ann that had gone out with Robin Hood, became popular again. So the two became one name which eventually became just a girls name.

Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are all closely related languages and they can all understand each other to a degree.

None of them can understand Finnish and the Finns can't understand them. No one else in the World can understand Finnish. The nearest related language is Hungarian.
