Here the "vans" are usually Salford Hire Transit Customs. Although there was a Subaru Legacy once.

Around 2007 NEXT used to employ mainly female couriers who turned up in their Mini or Astra rammed full with parcels, usually for my OH. Why, they never drove a van or at least a bigger car is beyond me. The smartest one I saw had a Corsavan, which is sensible enough.
I delivered 1500 Yellow Pages out of my Golf R last month!! Cost me more in fuel than the round was worth. Lesson learnt, don't help friends!

Update:
I had a call from the Police today. Amazon are ignoring them too. No calls back, no replies to email.

Looks like all you can do is rely on the chargeback then and risk Amazon closing your buying account. To be honest I expect that closure is coming anyway after all this. They appear to be going out of their way to be unhelpful.

A closure would be interesting. I have just under £500 on my Amazon account, I wonder how they will deal with that.

Haven't read all of the last few pages, but what if it's actually sat in the office/reception of the other address that you said you've been mixed up with before?

I appreciate getting in touch with the courier is probably not easy, but surely worth a try in case it's sat somewhere waiting to be picked up!

If you know the other premises in the other town (which amazon tracking suggests it's been delivered to) can't you speak to them and ask if they've got it?

Any updates OP?

Rather timely bump as I've just had an issue/argument with Amazon myself after delivering to a neighbour (value £26) yet the neighbour claims he told the foreign delivery driver he wouldn't accept the package. The driver couldn't speak nor understand a word of English and insisted my neighbour took it. Neighbour allegedly closed the door on him so left the package on the doormat, got in his van and drove off. Package has since disappeared and Amazon are now trying it on saying "Well Mr. Jazz, according to our records it was taken in by Mr. Smith at no.3, so go get it from him etc". Some arguments later Amazon have caved in and refunded the entire order, informing me to order it all again. Said why the hell should I and risk the same thing happening again, not to mention the inevitable black mark on my account. Nothing we can do Mr. Jazz, but we will forward your comments to the relevant department that deals with the couriers. rolleyes

shout Bring back DPD I say. Never had any issues with them. Only since they started using cowboy outfits under the guise of "Amazon Logistics" that it all went to st.

I have used Amazon since 2000, and never really had a problem with them, even when we moved to Italy, until Amazon Logistics. I ordered a DVD box set yesterday, and was meant to be delivered today. this morning I looked at my order status and it said it was posted through my letterbox, and it wasn't (I work from home and have 4 dogs, they know when there's something/someone at the door)
I have contacted customer services twice today, and eventually told me that the driver made a mistake in scanning the parcel as delivered (I don't believe it, it has happened way too many times in the past month or so), but advised me to wait until the 4th October to see if it arrives (I know it won't)

I wonder what the point of paying for the Prime service which includes next day delivery when I now have a 50/50 chance of the stuff I order turning up the next day, or just getting 'lost'. I have contacted them about the dim-witted drivers leaving our gate open (which leads to the main road, and if the dogs got loose, I would the to think of what would happen). each time they assure me that they have passed on the notice to the couriers, but every time, without exception, they leave it open - if they even bother to deliver the stuff I ordered in the first place.

I cannot help but think that some of their less scrupulous delivery people are stealing the parcels, and scanning them as delivered.

Indeed. I have some insight into one of the UK couriers they use under the guise of Amazon Logistics in NW Birmingham, they are called APLE. They way the staff and drivers are treated there is frankly shocking but to be fair most of them are complete scrotes you wouldn't leave in charge of a wheelbarrow let alone anything with any value so it is very likely imho that packages are going "missing" not by accident.

Aside from the Prime Next Day issue you mention, another thing which annoys me is their constant promotion of the Local Collect delivery service yet the option is blanked out on the delivery page if the item is bigger than a box of matches which renders the whole point of it, er, pointless, as a box of matches would fit through your letterbox so you would have no need to use it. You're only going to want to use that kind of delivery option for large items that you know they won't be able to deliver if you're out.

Amazon seem to be disappearing up their own backside. I haven't used them anywhere near as much as I used to since they ditched Collect+. my local Collect+ convenience store is open 'till 11pm every night, less than five minutes' drive from where I live and in a quiet street where it's easy to park. The only option now is Local Collect which consists of, in my area, three post offices, none of which are open when I'd like them to be, two of which are on roads so busy it's impossible to park, and one of which is in a town centre where you have to pay to park. When they ditched Collect+ they sent out an email spouting the usual marketing rhetoric about how the new service would be better, but it's so much worse that I now try to source the products that I would have bought on Amazon from other suppliers who still use Collect+.

After having another 2 parcels go missing (one scanned as delivered when it most certainly was not, and one missing in the post altogether), Amazon agreed to send all new orders using Royal Mail tracked post, rather than Amazon Logistics.
I told them in no uncertain terms that I would cancel everything on my Amazon account (prime, lovefilm and all pre-orders) if Amazon Logistics were involved in delivering the items, as I do not trust the delivery people. As I have sad previously, I am convinced they are keeping some parcels and scanning them as delivered.

Sure enough, yesterday, my two previous missing (read - stolen) orders arrived via Royal Mail, after Amazon re-ordered them for me.

Why did they stop using Collect+ and change to LocalCollect? I found the Collect+ option very useful as the garage at the end of my road has the lockers and they'd accept fairly large packages too. LocalCollect is pants in comparison as the majority of them are Post Office's which are only open office hours and you can only use them if the package is relatively small.

This is what was in the link in the email that they sent telling me that they were ditching Collect+

Note this nauseating bit of crap ...

"Occasionally, we need to make changes to our range of Pickup Locations to ensure we can continue to provide customers with the greatest possible service, low prices and convenience when shopping online."

It's now LESS convenient and NOT the greatest possible service because Collect+ was better.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware of that. Probably came down to price as Collect+ is owned by Yodel and PayPoint. Definitely a backwards move for the consumer though and I now often buy from Ebay instead of Amazon if the seller offers delivery to an Argos store as I have one inside my local Homebase which is only 2 mins up the road. The LocalCollect service from the Post Office's is too restrictive in their opening hours and package size.

Why don't you just tell your a postie your 'safeplace' to leave parcels?

I see that Amazon have brought back the Amazon Lockers again. I ordered a bunch stuff a few days ago and suddenly a whole load of them within walking distance of me were available for the orders to be delivered to in addition to all the Post Offices. I wonder if they've had a change of heart? Very happy to see it anyway as I was able to collect my stuff at 9.30pm last night from the locker smile.

Can I ask what the update was with this?

I've just had a similar experience with Amazon, and having the same difficulties with them.

On the subject of Amazon .. I accidentally clicked 'Amazon Prime' and was signed up for it .. seems a bit suspicious.

I have cancelled the subscription but now stuck with a free service that I didn't want! I order stuff now and again but these sort of tactics will certainly not encourage me to buy more stuff .. frown
