Anyone on live chat, on the phone, and the manager that called me are not interested in discussing this any further. They have completed their investigation and it is final!
Bloody hell. Get your mate to kick off on Twitter then. Good job you paid on credit card.
Exactly.

All you have to do is tweet on amazons twitter page ' awesome job amazon delivered a tv to the wrong address and then washed there hands of it' you'll get a reply in no time.
Something about this is...odd. Out of interest was this a purchase from Amazon, or a purchase "fulfilled by Amazon"?

If Amex have paid out won't they be chasing this with Amazon to get their money back?

I thin the credit Amazon have given me is temporary.
They will issue a charge back notice to Amazon, who will then have to prove to AMEX that it's been delivered.

The only slight worry I have is that the billing address I gave Amazon includes a Ltd company name, but my card is personal card (same address).

Worrying they are using Hermes now, an utter punch of muppets IME

Hmmm. Funnily enough the tracking on Amazon's site says it was delivered in a different town.
You have them by the nuts. As stated, speak to supervisors, not monkeys.

Same thing happened to me a few years back with a computer. The driver (named Rob!) ended up in prison. I simply asked them to ask him what colour my front door was. He said brown and it was red. They then investigated properly.
Really??

I should think anyone would be hard pushed to remember what colour door a specific address had, considering the huge amount of deliveries they (supposedly) make.

Plus brown isn't too far from red so i would say an easy mistake to make.
it was the fact that he got the colour wrong that made them take the investigation seriously. Turns out he had sold my computer to a mate for £200 (it was worth £3k. What a tt). As I say... he ended up in prison for that and some TICs. Made the local paper, mainly as his name was Rob.

A TV was delivered to me by Amazon I wasn't in so they left it with next door. The funny thing is I hadn't ordered a TV, they should have delivered it to ***** street not ***** place. The two addresses are about 5 miles apart. My neighbour dropped it off to the correct address later that day.

I can't see you being that fortunate I'm afraid.

Vast majority of deliveries are by Amazon Logistics, their own courier firm.

They fill in any gaps with companies like Hermes, UPS, Royal Mail etc

They don't fill in the gaps there totally replacing royal mail , hermes etc.

I'm in Somerset so can't comment about anywhere else but here they started just delivering to large towns themselves then smaller towns and now they've started delivering to rural areas also.

I think the only stuff royal mail now deliver are things ordered at the weekend with a guaranteed monday delivery !

Tweets sent to @Amazon, @AmazonUK and @jeffbezos.
Let's see what happens. I suspect nothing will happen and my Amazon account will be closed.

I bought a PS4 from Amazon and I got an email to confirm it had been delivered and signed for by me. I was nowhere near home at the time. The courier had left it outside the door, in sight of a busy road and in the rain.
To be fair to Amazon they gave me a £100 credit for it being wet (I sent them pictures).
However if someone had walked off with it I imagine I would be in the same situation as yourself. Hope you get it sorted.

A couple of pointless tweets exchanged with @Amazonhelp
Things like 'Have you spoken to customer services' and in response to why they want my passport 'it looks like we are trying to help you'

The impression I get is that they actually think I'm trying to pull a fast one and they are calling my bluff by asking me to contact the police and asking for a copy of my passport etc.

So the Twitter angle was a fail also.

BUYER BEWARE. High value items going missing with Amazon and they will give you a really hard time

Yes, chargeback. That was Yodel, around £600 value.

I order thousands of pounds of goods everyweek. IT hardware etc. The vast majority of deliveries are fine. My work address is similar to The Drive West, and there is a The Drive East. It's also industrial units so people often go to the wrong road or the wrong estate (any unit 4 on any estate is fine for some delivery drivers!).

I'm a bit confused, Amazon don't use Hermes or at least i've never seen any delivery from Amazon delivered by Hermes and i drop stuff off at a Hermes warehouse quite often. Hermes simply don't have the capacity to take Amazons volume as they are local people delivering in their cars. Their core market is 1-2 kg pkgs. Have you tried the tracking number given on other couriers sites such as Yodel etc? They seem to do Amazons bigger stuff. Can you post the tracking number?

You'd be surprised how much stuff from Amazon doesn't require a signature, unless it's something age restricted such as alcohol, knives etc they can quite often be left without a signature regardless of contents.

Amazon have stopped using royal mail , yodel etc and have decided to use self employed drivers ie hermes as there cheaper.

Going to be interesting what happens at christmas this year.

It's trackable on Hermes World although no proof of delivery.

I'm surprised something like a TV was sent with them

From the Hermes site:

Signing for a parcel
Will my parcel require a signature upon delivery?
We offer a fully tracked service as standard but do not automatically record a signature.
However, you do have the option to ensure that a signature is taken upon delivery of your parcel. If you choose enhanced compensation when ordering we will automatically ensure that a signature is taken when delivering your parcel.

To view the latest rates for proof of delivery and enhanced compensation, please visit our prices page.

If you are the sender and you would like to see the signed proof of delivery for a parcel that has been delivered, please contact us.

So there might not even be any proof of delivery other than saying it's been delivered.
