Lost a few friends on Facebook who endlessly post 9/11 conspiracy theories

Thing is some nutter produces a really dumbed down simplistic video, such as "look at this, in this paused video frame you cant see the plane: IT MUST BE FAKED"
and people believe this, some people really believe that they are superior to everyone else and that they are enlightened and the public are just being lied to and manipulated by the Rothschilds

There are detailed scientific engineering studies and papers that carefully detail why the World Trade collapsed like it did, peer review studies written and reviewed by experts in their field on construction, fires and physics, but oh no some people choose to believe Rodney in Alhamba in his stty 5 minute youtube video who has no previous experience

Its pretty disgusting to endlessly go on about it with no real evidence considering the thousands that died .

Lots of the people who believe in conspiracy theories often have not held down much of a job, or at least one that involves organising others, having run various projects through the years even getting one man to turn up on time to install a toilet can be impossible without them fking it up, let alone a whole team of experts to fit explosives to one of the most iconic busiest buildings in the world with no one noticing...

I do agree there are conspiracy theories that have merit or similar, such as (already mentioned) operation paperclip

The thing these conspiracies theorists always fail to realise and address is mounting any kind of covert operation like this requires many, many people to never tell anyone and to keep all the evidence and paper trail secret. An almost impossible job.

So people plant explosives and fake a terrorist attack, kill thousands of people "for the greater good" and everyone goes along with it.

There was a good documentary on one of the Discovery (or History, or National Geographic) channels about the 9/11 "truthers", where their various theories (eg the twin towers were taken down in a thermite controlled demolition) were debunked. The chief protagonists came over as a bunch of self-absorbed, self-important pricks.

I find that when talking to conspiracy theory loons (my cousin is one), they are quite happy to debate the official version of events and try to pick holes in it, but if you switch it around and start picking holes in their theory, they get very annoyed. Which is great fun.

Agree with the above, also how conspiracy theories are big business, if you coin a theory and get good traffic to your site, good video views, can charge to do talks, that can translate to a very nice income stream , some of the big players are even branded up like a business

Building dems is a massive & precise task that requires 1000's of man hours to coordinate. At no time were there & have there been any reports before or after the attacks of 100's of people drilling holes into the structure of the WTC buildings to place dems or any sign of the miles & mile of det cord/cabling required. Utter barking to think any of the 9/11 fiasco was a conspiracy.

yes

The trouble is, Rodney in Alabama knows the melting point of steel and the temperature of burning paraffin and because of the difference, knows for a fact that the building couldn't fall down.

That's a more seductive argument than the steel was weakened by the heat so every numpty latches onto it.

Repeat this puddle deep, accept everything for what it seems depth of analysis and you have a World full of conspiracy theories.

Same, but if you find building 7 suspicious, why not the rest? The twin towers both experienced free-fall accelleration, just like B7. There is a lot of evidence that explosives were used, I agree.

And as far as consipracy theories go, there are many things that have happened in the course of world history that would have been considered conspiracy theory or fantasy had they never been uncovered. Power has no morals.
That's right up there with the nonsense you post about Italian bikes.

The trouble with 'conspiracy theorists' (as opposed to people who are somewhat cynical of what the government tell them) is that they seem unable to process information like the rest of us.

The moon landings are a good example. There is more than ample evidence that man has been to the moon. The numerous crackpot theories put forward as to how it was faked simply ignore all of this. Not to mention showing a total lack of understanding whent hey start blithering on about the shadows in the images.

Holocaust deniers are the same, the Nazis filmed and meticulously recorded everything they did (bet they were glad the did that once they were in the dock Nuremberg). These people are simply denying the evidence that is in front of them. I could go on. (but fortunately I won't)

Clearly there have been plenty of times that governments DID collude and lie to the public for their own nefarious ends. The gulf of Tomkin, operation northwoods have already been mentioned. Anyone who accepts the governments version of anything without questioning it is just as much a fool as your average conspiracy nutter.

When you really look at 9-11 there might well be a case for the US government seizing the opportunity to march around the globe off the back of what happened, and even at a stretch ignoring intelligence to those ends, but planning it? Governments can't make tea without someone fking it up so expect them to pull off something of that magnitude off is just la la land.

The supposed free fall of the twin towers has been explained. Heat weakening the steel causing floors to collapse and pancake down on top of each other. I'm no engineer but it seems like a perfectly reasonable explanation

Was it really.....?

Not being sarcastic (well a bit).

This has been proven? Who says it was and who says it wasn't?

Genuine question as I don't know much about any of this...
Alright well it's just my opinion and I'm no way a conspiracy nut trust me it's just hard to belive the official stance of fire bringing down the building when it falls in exactly the same way as a controlled demolition.

Suppose we will never know anyways.

Have you ever seen a building that's been prepared for demolition, on tv for example?

No they haven't, they haven't seen the teams of people, the drilled holes, charges set, det-cord laid by the fking endless mile al lthroughout the building. What they have seen is some on choob-tube wittering on about thermite, free-fall speeds, etc, etfking cetera.

fking fruitloops!

look for a book by Dr Judy Wood,

I think it's called "where did the towers go"

She's also highly credible and offers detailed alternate versions of what could of happened.

If you're into this stuff it's a must read.

You might want to research the challenges to that explanation. You might also want to consider that those challenging it forced NIST to both abandon the pancake theory and admit that free-fall speeds occurred.
