Having a Baby.... What do we NEED?
Discussion
My daughter has just turned one, I had a bit of a chuckle rereading this topic with the benefit of a bit of experience!
I would say the most important thing to get is a good circle of friends, relatives and acquaintances who have recently had children, so you can beg, borrow and buy for cheap all the kit everybody will tell you is essential, without bankrupting yourself. Then just give it away to the next person you know who is having a baby.
The above group is also great for real life advice when things are getting tough. I remember sitting up for hours with a grumpy baby reading many websites and forums of advice of what to do. Rock it, pick it up, put it down, wave it around, pat it, BUT DO NOT LET IT CRY!
Ask friends advice: "Just put her in the cot for a bit, she will go to sleep after a few minutes". And it worked...
