So why not go on a vegan site then?I am sorry if this comes over as a bit aggressive, I don't mean to be. It's not my site and people are free to discuss whatever they want. I do think, however, that this motoring site would be an awful lot better if before people were allowed to start agenda drive threads in the lounge they had to make 50 posts in any of the motoring sections of the site. Always strikes me as odd when someone joins, waits a couple of months before making a post, starts a thread, and then throws up links to third rate propaganda and pseudo-scientific crap.

from a very young age we are conditioned to drink your milk as its good for your bones(Its takes calcium from your bones) and eat your meat and veg so we assume this is normal through our lives its all rubbish Google the facts BTW drinking milk from another species that is designed to fatten up a calf very quickly is going to cause a human problems in the future
"The body is designed for survival, so it sacrifices bone density to protect the kidneys and urinary tract because the latter are essential to survival. And the most readily available source of acid neutralizer is in the bones. So even though milk contains calcium, it ends up sapping your bones of that crucial mineral"
Well, that's just crap. Forgive me if I ignore the rubbish you can dig up on Google (after all, you can Google links that tell you crystal healing works), and stick with Harvard. "The body is designed for survival, so it sacrifices bone density to protect the kidneys and urinary tract because the latter are essential to survival. And the most readily available source of acid neutralizer is in the bones. So even though milk contains calcium, it ends up sapping your bones of that crucial mineral"

Edited to add - milk being "acidic" and needing neutralising is nonsense if you stop to think about it for even a second. The acid in your stomach is much, much more acidic than milk will ever be. Milk's pH is 6.5-6.7 - drinking water can have a very similar pH, although distilled water's pH is 7 if my memory of science classes isn't wrong.
By comparison, Coka Cola has a pH between 2.5 and 4.2, making it quite acidic. Lemon juice has a pH of around 2.

Hi after getting persuaded by my daughter to turn vegan I reluctantly watched a couple of videos and I was shocked as how cruel the dairy and meat industries are, now I am not preaching here but from a man who loves his meat like I love my MEAT from 4 egg omelet plus sausages bacon etc. breakfast plus a whole chicken or a couple of tins of tuna for lunch and dinner well enough said.
I am just starting on this journey and it will be a tricky one . we are told from a very young age that meat and dairy are good for a healthy life but we are not built to eat or consume animal products. here is informative videos

they are sad to watch but very inspiring and informative.

If God hadn't meant us to eat animals he wouldn't have made them taste so good I am just starting on this journey and it will be a tricky one . we are told from a very young age that meat and dairy are good for a healthy life but we are not built to eat or consume animal products. here is informative videos

We're omnivores, just look at your teeth...
Meat eaters have very big canines and cannot grind food only chomp lumps of flesh and swallow and are happy to eat raw meat.

no I haven't I just cut out meat don't take this soooooo seriously
How can you promote veganism and sell dead animals for personal profit?fishseller said:
No! there alive when I sell them in a bag of water to the aquatic trade as feeder shrimp for predatory fish all natural I don't kill them the fish do!
Not much difference between that and cattle farming is there? The farmers don't slaughter the cows, the abattoir does. Or do you not see the similarities because the animals you sell are smaller?Or are you just antagonising people?
not sure why the op is being shot down he wants to discuss being vegan is that so difficult for everyone?
the most difficult part of me being vegan for 6 months was having to go through arguments with everyone when you mention it. the only reason i had to mention it is if eating at other peoples houses etc i did not feel the need to broadcast it. neither was i strictly vegan but its easier than saying whole food plant based blah blah blah

How can you promote veganism and sell dead animals for personal profit? You can surely see the irony in this given why you say you no longer want to eat meat, or is it deliberate?

Instead of stopping eating meat on animal welfare issues why not take the time to find a source of meat that you know has been ethically farmed and slaughtered?
It's not difficult.
This. +1It's not difficult.
Go and find a good local butcher who can tell you which farms they get the meat from. You could then check the farm and enquire about standards, feeding, welfare etc.
It's not hard OP. Changing your mind after seeing a few biased videos on the internet seems to be a bit pathetic to me ? Harsh perhaps but there you go. Have you taught your daughter to look for further balanced views, medical statistics , take in opposing sides of the story, considered all arguments and life long benefits and concerns? What about if your daughter wants children herself? Lot's of information out there to show that vegetarian mothers suffer from nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy for example which are passed onto babies. Has she thought about that?
Or has she heard these views from other influential people in her life such as teachers - who can be very self righteous and biased themselves? Taking into account that teenagers change their mind with the wind ( or next social media fad) are you really going to change your lifestyle (as that what the word DIET really means - not actually about unnaturally restricting yourself from a type of food) to keep your kids happy?
