Vegan is a sofisticated diet.
When you see how much dairy has found it's way into regualr food you realise it's not regular. The Glutinous Vegan website has got some hearty recipes and most Indian, Thai and Chinese menus cater for you. Always make enough evening meal to take to work the next day. Go up to the animals you used to eat and give them a pat on the head.

Are the shills out in force today? Did the Vegan Society decide today was the day to convert PH?

Also, you're so 'sofisticated' you can't even spell the word!

hehe

I sent her the previous pic and she replied with the one above, so she obviously sees the funny side. In fairness to her, she's really not very preachy about it.

Funny that you use that word though - it really is like a religion to some.

But, as with religion, it'd be great if we all just live and live, man. hippy

It doesn't work like that. The farmers aren't going to just keep all the cows into old age, send them to a retirement farm and then have them pass away peacefully surrounded by family.
If we don't eat them, they won't exist.

I had a contractor come into do some work for a few days once who told me he was a Vegatarian, almost Vegan but not quite for some reason (cant remember what he said) but what I do remember is he asked me what I thought he did for his ten year anniversary of being a vegatarian ?

I said I didnt have a clue, he said

"I spent the whole day eating meat"

Which struck me as a bit strange.

I went vegetarian for about two years when I was like 19, it want animal welfare or principles or anything like that, just couldnt face it, my mum was cooking a roast and it made me heave which was unusual as she is a really good cook, then I started fancying eating meat again but had decided I was a vegetarian, so kept it up a bit longer, even through a 3 month trip to the states.

Thing is, why mention it at all? There are only two possible reasons that I can see to bring it up:
1) To obtain validation for your own life choices
2) To tell everybody else how great it is

Particularly when linking to two excessively propaganda-heavy Youtube videos, I can only assume that the original intention was closer to (2) than (1), no matter how heavily couched the actual post was. Plus, of course, the implied - and explicit, in the linked videos - criticism of those who don't share the same views.

If you want to swap Vegan recipes, then say so. If you want to discuss pros and cons of a veggie diet, fill your boots in Health Matters. Neither of those are overly preachy.

If you want to sound preachy, then post up some Youtube links and tell everybody that eating meat is bad.

BTW, the OP didn't even get off the first page before revealing his true colours:

we are not give a 1 year old child a live rabbit will he rip it a part and eat it raw or play with it ? its all learnt behaviour promoted by the meat and dairy industries for big profits

I can understand vegetarianism, as I mentioned there was a point in my life when meat made me heave, and I can see that, i can see the moral argument and a lot about the production and how intensive it is.

However, Why Vegan above just not eating meat ? is that more a cruelty/ethical thing, humans have existed in conjunction with animals and domesticated them for millennia.

Then was that guy that is a Vegan apart from Road kill, er, isn that just a weird meat eater ?

I am guessing Cows, Pigs and Sheep wouldnt really exist as we know them, do vegans wear leather, what about cars with leather interiors or shoes and stuff ?

Have you seen the portals they put in the sides of some dairy cows?

Veganism seems fair enough to me, vegetarianism is a cop out though, millions of bull calves and cock chicks are dying for food production even if the veggies aren't eating their flesh.

Deleted all my contributions in fact. This thread is a farce full of uninformed numpty views. I don't have the need to convince anyone to do anything. People can continue to live their unhealthy lives as they wish and I'll stick to talking cars on PH. Simples.

Veganism and vegetarianism are a choice, but it's a choice that's only available by the fact our 1st world economy offers the luxury of choice. It's unsustainable on a global scale and I'm sure that some populations would find it odd to eschew the eating of meat when that's all they have.

It's a luxury to have the choice, but don't force that choice upon the rest of us, just get on with it in peace
