Ignoring the ethics side of things (which I do anyway), it makes me feel like crap. I feel much better for having a diet less heavy in red meat in particular. For something like a red curry or a strongly flavoured stir fry you don't actually need meat to get the full flavour imo.

Then why do we like it and eat it? confused Surely 99% of us can't be wrong.
from a very young age we are conditioned to drink your milk as its good for your bones(Its takes calcium from your bones) and eat your meat and veg so we assume this is normal through our lives its all rubbish Google the facts BTW drinking milk from another species that is designed to fatten up a calf very quickly is going to cause a human problems in the future

"The body is designed for survival, so it sacrifices bone density to protect the kidneys and urinary tract because the latter are essential to survival. And the most readily available source of acid neutralizer is in the bones. So even though milk contains calcium, it ends up sapping your bones of that crucial mineral"

of course spread the message

David Haye became vegan.[48] He also launched his own range of vegan protein.[49] David gave up eating animal products at the beginning of 2014 and was immediately open about his reasons for doing so. "I watched a TV documentary about how animals are farmed, killed and prepared for us to eat", he explained. "I saw all those cows and pigs and realised I couldn’t be a part of it any more. It was horrible. I did some research to make sure I could still obtain enough protein to fight and, once satisfied that I could, I stopped. I’ll never go back." But why the need to post as though you are rubbing it in people's faces? It just comes across as certain vegans needing to reaffirm their choices to themselves more than anything else.

I particularly like the irony that the op earns a living from the death trade, then actively encourages people to not take part in it. Hypocrite.

Eta: Or, the op is an exquisite troll.

Don't you find it at all suspicious that the website that quote comes from (saveourbones.com) is basically a front for selling a diet program?

We have a friend coming to visit in a couple of weeks who has gone vegan.

She is one of our closest friends, but to be honest we now don't look forward to her visits as much as we did.

Feeding her is possible but mundane, and eating out is a minefield if you're not used to it.

So we're taking her to a cheese festival. rofl

You're either a troll, a brainwashed, cult-following idiot, or this is an elaborate way into advertising something.

Please don't bother replying to the OP.

It's normally quite sane in FD&R.

(Or move the lounge?, being vegan has even less to do with FD&R than health)

I recommend taking vegans / vegetarians on a holiday to Bavaria. Not only will they be openly ridiculed by the waiting staff, but they'll waste away within a week.

yes indeed our teeth are designed to grind and rotate side to side to grind down plant based foods the 2 canines are there to to take flesh of nuts seeds oranges etc. not meat.
Meat eaters have very big canines and cannot grind food only chomp lumps of flesh and swallow and are happy to eat raw meat.
That's just selective nonsense. We aren't carnivores, we are omnivores. Our teeth differ from carnivores as much as they do herbivores.

There is nothing wrong with not eating meat for ethical (or whatever) reasons but preaching bks is not going to go your way. I agree with you and others that meat is too cheap and not valued but denying scientific fact just makes you look silly.

FWIW I (try to) eat meat that has been ethically raised as I think intensive farming methods are wrong on many levels.

Yeah, that's all kind of bullst.

A number of paleo nuts are pushing the same barrow. Weird.

But I agree with a couple of basic points:
1) grain fed feedlot cattle is inhumane, bad for us, bad for the animal, and just turning the flesh of an animal into a commodity.
2) You can acctually eat tasty meals that don't have meat and having a tantrum about it makes you just as aggravating as preachy vegans.
3) Most vegetarians are actually pretty decent and hate vegans.

Been a veggie for 32 years. Couldn't be vegan, I just don't eat enough of the stuff that makes up a vegan diet, without dairy I would have stopped bothering years ago.

Budweiser used to contain renet but it doesn't now.

I've been strict veggie for most of my life but if beer ever gets ruled out then frankly I'll lapse. I've deliberately avoided contributing to unnecessary cruelty in all that time but you stop me drinking beer and I might as well top meself. Not not much point in having a principle that stops you living, that's reserved for the religious idiots.
I agree live is for living but animals have that right to
I formed my philosophy as a young boy: if animals I eat weren't bred for food they wouldn't be alive at all!
You have a point you probably would see cattle or pigs or sheep on farms if we didn't eat them!

Instead of stopping eating meat on animal welfare issues why not take the time to find a source of meat that you know has been ethically farmed and slaughtered?

It's not difficult.

That's incorrect, our bodies are designed for a diet of meat, veg and fruit. It's bread type products and excessive amounts of added in sugar, fats, chemicals, alcohol that we aren't really supposed to consume, that's why there are so many overweight people around.

I was totally naive what was going on until now so I have made a choice I will not preach just inform ta!
