Fourteen years of struggling to raise my kids as a single parent with no financial or moral support from their Father, last week my middle son was offered a place in the sixth form at a prestigious private school having been, for want of a better phrase, head hunted/watched by them since he was 11. Less than an hour ago, after working ten hours, doing housework and sorting out paperwork I found out the majority of the fees will be paid for him by the school after finding an unopened envelope in with their placement offer letter. I've been in tears since. No one is awake to share this with so I'm posting here.

I thought you'd never ask!
[clears throat]
It was a few years ago now, but I attempted to kill myself with a hydraulic jack; it was part of a test rig for a prototype, I was minding my own business pumping the thing up to pressure when the bloody thing sprang apart and launched the hydraulic cylinder skywards in a graceful parabola which was brought to an abrupt halt by the hose drawing taut, at which point the bugger swung down and clocked me on the noggin. I suddenly felt rather unwell and there was claret everywhere, given the weight of the cylinder and the impressive lump left I'm surprised I wasn't knocked out. I got a ride in an ambulance, an x-ray proving I have a brain, 3 stitches and a half-day off for my troubles.
In true H&S stable door closing fashion, a safety cage was hastily constructed around the test rig and I was banned from doing such things without the presence of an adult.
In my previous life doing x-ray I once x-rayed a man who had been changing a rear spring on (as far as I can remember) a Renault 21 savannah, the spring compressor had slipped, the spring made a successful bid for freedom through the roof of his workshop clipping his forehead on the way out. He was extremely lucky, if it had made a better contact it would have taken the top of his head off like an egg.[clears throat]

It's been hard I admit. And it's not over yet. I still need to raise an amount toward tuition fees, and additional compulsory fees. But I'll do it. I'm literally putting everything up for sale this weekend. Things can be replaced. Opportunities can't.
In the meantime, me on the school run... (one of the meeetings I've had) I was at one point completely surrounded by 4x4s! I'm gonna need a bigger car.
My lad detests that I take advantage of a photo opportunity. Let alone the thought of sweeping Canapés and Hors d'oeuvre in to my handbag on open evening.
Morning all, just checking in so you don't think I have died
Blue skies here but it did chuck it down earlier, bit breezy though.....
I feel a whip round is in order for a certain other person here, anybody care to start the ball rolling as I am a complete luddite but happy to donate?
