Discussion
GANTRY; from the Old English Gan Tree (or Trees). Two adjacent trees of similar size were chosen and a stout length of wood (possibly a tree trunk selected for its straightness) was run between strong branches of the trees at a similar elevation to allow safe passage between the trees at high level, eg "I'm gan across to t'other soid." It was found that the cross member could used for lifting heavy objects and the gantry as we now know it was born. For example, there is documentary evidence of Gan Trees being used for engine swaps in trebuchets.

Hi. I had my new phone delivered today. I opened the box. It was missing its charger. I've had a refund and now the waiting for delivery starts anew, having just reordered.
*sigh*
Stick to the 2-way radio. Repeat 2-way. It's a trap do not turn the phone on.*sigh*
