?????? Nothing to do with climate change, just commenting how the same dozen usual suspects nearly always post all the extremes - to give you some idea, at one point one of these locations was registering -8C, and the nearest other station +2C, it just shows how local temperatures can be and how affected by urban - and especially airport - development.
Cool. The "usual suspects" bit made it sound political. The car said -2 this morning at worst, but the local meteorological site reckoned -3.8 at 8am. Very dry though, even the neighbours cars out in the open barely had an frost on the windscreens. Mine is parked in a sheltered location, so its rare I get frosted screens anyway. The local site said the dew point was -8.
From current forecasts tonight/tomorrow will be as cold as last night, then it warms up a little into next week which is going to be double figures again and wet...

The figures are in:-
Not surprisingly the Nov 2016 Central England Temperature was 1C colder than the benchmark (1961-1990) ranking 123/133 equal coldest out of 358 years.
The Autumn season SON as a whole was quite warm but not exceptional (thanks to a hot September = 5th warmest) ranking 35th warmest out of 358.

Seems to me we have had more proper frosty mornings already this winter, that is more than the last two or three years combined.
Seems to have been a lot colder at this point this year. We have also had a distinct lack of windy weather (not that I'm complaining).
We moved house in 2013 and each year up until this one, we would have had a few crazy windy nights (our house has fields opposite) by now. We haven't really had anything so far.
Also, this summer was different too. It's the first time since we moved in that our driveway has turned into a massive puddle. It did it twice this year (once in June and once in August, I think). I've never seen it do that before. However, our neighbour said it has done it in the past. The water was getting closer and closer to the house. We also had a lot more wind this summer than usual.
It's different this year.

It is a very different setup. We're about to enter a warmer phase, with SWerly winds. However, the majority of this phase will see the high pressure just to our SE, meaning low pressure systems will effect the north, if at all.
What comes next is now at the crossroads point. Mid-December onwards could be interesting, but I'm certainly not saying it will be cold (at this point).

Met Office just issued a yellow warning of fog for Spalding tonight until tomorrow morning.
Be careful on the roads people.
It's not just Spalding Be careful on the roads people.
If you look closely though, you'll see that the yellow fog is emanating from Spalding.
(We actually have a gas power station here that emits yellow smoke every now and again).
