The last day or so has got to the time consuming level of snow clearing. Not sure of the proper depth but somewhere around thigh height where it is just sitting around normally, and the shoveled piles are now going into the greater than head height levels. Plus looks like more to come in the next few days.

More to come eh? Is there? Really..... furiousrantingirked
Kind of - looks like another dump tomorrow, before it goes back to plus degrees and probably rain from Monday onwards. So that will make the fun sheet ice/ water on top/ flooding situation happen again. It might be good though, as the snowploughs have created big ledges between some roads. I really smashed the underside of the car earlier today coming from a small road that was at a much higher level than the main road it joined. It's also almost getting there on the carpark at work between the heated and non-heated part coming out of the garage.

We're just dropping back down to sensible winter temps after a week on the plus side , snowing well tonight which will make the roads slick . Nice little 360 mile jaunt to Winterpeg Manitoba for me tomorrow .

Teeny little flakes of snow here in Sth Manchester, nothing to get excited about but snow is snow.

Was speaking with a friend who is a senior engineer for a southern water company yesterday. Groundwater levels are very close to drought levels. eek

Seems about right at least for the South Puggit, there hasn't been much rain in December.

These are the stats from my local station

I miss Winnipeg so much. Proper summers and proper winters. I grew up there in Charleswood. I miss the smell and the sound of sub-zero temperatures.
I'm feeling all homesick now frown

Been out doing jobs and it is grim, 2/3c, murky, cold enough to be annoying and uncomfortable but not cold enough to be interesting. pretty or enjoyable.

Models are continuing to struggle, like all winter. High pressure continues to dictate the wearher, but never goes NE or NW to bring us severe cold.

Earlier signs of Atlantic weather continue to get pushed back in time.

Some signs of a possible Sudden Stratospheric Warming occurring. But that's a little while away and takes 2 weeks or so to effect our weather.

Looks like the winter-apocalypse outside this morning. I think that's more than a week now I've been having to defrost the car in the morning...

My road to the station drops 60m from the top of the hill we live on, with lots of 90 degree bends around fields. After the heavy rain on Monday, all the run off is now frozen, as we've been frosty every night since, with not enough heat to melt the ice. Absolutely lethal if you're not expecting it.

No frost here, 2 degrees on the dashboard readout this morning. Everything is just wet with foggy dew and grey.

I can't remember the last time I didn't have to defrost. It's been minus 7 a couple of times ( I live in a bit of a hollow with a field in front that the cold seems to drop off )

Pain in the backside defrosting at 5am just to take the boy swimming !
