I've gone on the Netweather forums, and particularly the North West discussion; this 'winter' has just been a mild squib. Mainly dry, with very little Atlantic storms, which is a relief - but a small number of frosts. As for snow, I don't recall anything were I am. The best was the odd hail/ graupel shower, and that was for about 15-20 minutes.

Saw a few flakes in Chelyabinsk, Siberia last week. It was -28C on this day - the warmest day of our visit:

I love the cold, I love frost and mega sub zero temperatures. However, I'm longing for spring now and that first Saturday afternoon where, having cut the lawns, I can stand in the back garden in jeans and a polo shirt, enjoying a cold bottle of beer with with sun warming my shoulders...
I'm pretty sure this is a quote from Shawshank Redemption.
Hand on heart, I didn't lift it from anywhere.

Puggit, you've let us down yet again. Every year you promise us the moon onna stick. Every year we are bitterly disappointed.

That you continue to show your face in this place plain astounds me.

See you next October!

May be over for you lot in Euroland , still a couple of months to go in the frozen North , and I'd like it to end now tbh . Last week into the minus 40's now plus 7 and 8 during the day with the odd night above freezing . It'll come back with a vengeance , it always does .Roll on April

Foehn effect could bring temps of 14 or 15 degrees to areas east of hills early next week. Aberdeenshire, NE, midlands most likely places to hit 15 smile

Spring is sprunging today.

Atlantic gales forecast for Thurs-Sun. Could bring heavy snow, especially northern elevated areas. Could effect lower levels in the north, will keep a watch.

Stunning weather here Friday and Saturday, not so now. 36 hours into a pea-souper.

Turns out my local station was the coldest place in the country that night, that's the South Coast for you!

Anyways, as a gardener, the late winter/spring period worries me this year, I reckon just as all the tender new growth and blossom has been coaxed out, it could get zapped in March......... the signs are brewing.

Bloody warm today. Even had the sunroof open on the way home. The question is, will Puggit be right about the snow?

We had a bunch of rain, and then today it's just been dumping it down with snow. Probably 40-45cm or so I'd guess.
